December 29, 201015 yr Commercial Member Hi there, I have been reading the J41 manuals and reading forum posts, as well as watching videos. I've done all that any of them say to do, yet I get an unsilencable Takeoff Config Warning horn when throttle is applied. (Yes, start locks removed, condition levers flight, flaps set, trim set, yada yada yada. I thought it was the trim but tried adjusting it and it didn't help the horn. As well, I am unable to use LNAV, again, after setting the FMC and systems correctly. I use the Cold and Dark LUA, as I'm unable to start the engines otherwise. the NAV switch is inop. Thanks for the advice,Collin Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website

Thanks for the advice,CollinHi Collin,It looks like you have a problem with the FMC, but I don't think this let blow the horn. You can fly without fmc. Did you turn on the "airswitches to 5" ( on the panel in the middle)? If you configure the FMC the right way, NAV and LNAV should normally working. Strange problem. You start FSX at Friday Harbor with the ultra lite? And then switch to J41?I try some things today Hope I can help you.Eric Eric van Dorp

That's what the User Control Panel told me. I'm afraid to leave my favorite up because it's evidently the BUFF. Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website

It's not messed up or anything (I know because I made it). You are probably on the right track though, because if I slew into the air, land, then takeoff again, no TOCWS. If I shutdown though, there it is again. I also use the Cold and Dark LUA somebody released here in the forums. As for the FMC, I've followed the manuals and every video I've watched. I can't figure it out. I like the 747 more than the J41 at this point. THanks for the advice! Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website
December 29, 201015 yr Commercial Member As far as TOCWS goes, these are the triggers: Condition levers 100%Spoilers retractedSpoiler ARMEDElevator trim in green rangePark brake offFlaps 9Gust lock disengagedDouble check that you have taken care of the above items, especially if you have a hardware control for the prop/mixture axes. So far, most have been getting caught with the condition levers not being at 100%.The FMC is extremely simple, you just can't attack it like it's a 747, or any other aircraft's system for that matter. The J-41 being my favorite, I'll attempt to explain how the FMC works:[This is the an abbreviated version setting up only what you need for a flight, and not tending to advanced/other functions]Load up cold and dark. Once you have the power to the avionics, turn the FMC on using the ON button and let it boot up...Ya know what?I'll make a PDF tutorial so that people can DL it and keep it. Back in an hour. December 30, 201015 yr Commercial Member You're welcome. I figured I'd make myself useful during my week off. Hope that helps. Kyle Rodgers
December 30, 201015 yr As far as I'm aware the takeoff config warning only sounds if any of the following is true:*Flaps not set to at least 9*Spoiler is not armed*Parking brake is engaged*Condition levers are not in the FLIGHT positionAt least, that's what I've gained from my experience. December 30, 201015 yr Author Commercial Member I'll give it a try later today, I'm off to fly KSJC - PHNL now! Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website
December 30, 201015 yr Commercial Member Let me know how that goes, and if you have any questions. I tried to write it in a manner that you could easily substitute your own plan for the one I used, but for the first round, it may be easiest to run the whole IAD-ROA flight. It's only 45-50 minutes anyway. Kyle Rodgers
January 4, 201115 yr Author Commercial Member I managed to get my first takeoff without a horn yesterday! Thanks all! Collin Biedenkapp Chief Executive Officer TFDi Design (Invernyx) | Website
