FS9 sound issues with new build

Strange thing happening... Working on a new PC build - moving some FS9 folders over to the new drive. My aircraft sounds are great with an outside view but inside 2D or 3D they are scratching and squealing. This happens when I after take-off approaching probably 200+ knots. Tried it with several different aircraft that I know sound great on my old PC. And here's something funny, the default FS9 aircraft sound great inside! So it's not a bad onboard sound card (expensive MB). Only my add-ons right now are sounding all scratchy inside. Starting to investigate but I thought I would throw this out there in case someone has come across this before. Sound familiar?thx,Clutch

Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!)  Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11),  EVGA 1300W PSU
Netgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displays
Full array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

Clutch: This certainly doesn't sound like a hardware issue. I hate to bring up the painfully obvious, but the first thing I would do is reinstall -- just reinstall for now, don't waste time uninstalling first -- my addon aircraft one by one. Sounds like some sort of rights protection issue, or maybe even a file corruption issue. Does your sound.cfg point to folder(s) inside FS9, or is still trying to go out to the old install?(PS: Please say hello to Spinner and Paddlefoot for me will you? I haven't seen you guys since I was a kid!)

Another user had this problem. Go into your sound chip settings and try setting the sampling/quality to 44K (CD quality) if it is at 48K. See if that helps.

You hit the nail on the head Ronzie. It was at 48K. Moved down to 44K and sounds goooood. :( "(PS: Please say hello to Spinner and Paddlefoot for me will you? I haven't seen you guys since I was a kid!)"That gave me a chuckle as sometimes I forget about my user name, ha!Guess I spoke too soon. Seems to also be related to FPS. At unlimited (120-130FPS), the noise comes back. If I set it to say 60FPS it sounds great. Mmmmm....

Sound stuttering with on-board audio processing is a known problem having to do with CPU and RAM resources. FS does most of its rendering in RAM using the CPU. By limiting the frame rates to 24 (that's a movie film rate) or 30 (Broadcast TV analog interlaced rate) that should free up some time for the audio processor to access the motherboard RAM because of the reduced rendering load.Unfortunately, in addition to this, FS will not take advantage of multiple cores or hyperthreading. Therefor your CPU internal ram cache is shared as well.

Hello and happy new year :(I had the very same issue with the sound, and the solution was very easy, make sure FS is not running, then delete the fs9.cfg, load up FS and you will have to redo all the settings from scratch, that solves the sound issue.Happy and smooth landings!

Interresting, where to find? I didnt find anything like that..

Hello,

Interresting, where to find? I didnt find anything like that..
Methink it's must be find in the CODEC properties (the CODEC you are using for rendering the sounds with your sound card) IMHOBTW 44K Stereo (CD Quality) is (normally) the default settingRegards.xsgs_9036.gifGus.

The sound card settings are sometimes available from a mini-icon on the right side (not the quick start section) of a task bar or through an applet in the control panel. If a quality slider is present try moving it one step down from "best". Generally each card vendor supplies there own card settings interface again in the task bar or control panel.
