December 31, 201015 yr I have had to reinstall FSX Acceleration and for some reason I could not do that with my usual Vista account (me) which was a member of the administrators group so I created a new user 'test', again in the admin group, and was able to install FSX Acceleration. However I cannot add scenery to the scenery library nor copy and paste into the texture folder using the 'me' account. Can anyone explain the cause of this (I suspect a permissions problem but not sure what) and a cure?UAC is turned off for both accounts. Thanks

Selecting "custom installation" from the DVD allows you to place it anywhere you want. Mine is on G:, a totally separate HDD and it avoids all that 'permissions' BS on Vista and Win7.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro

December 31, 201015 yr Author Thanks for the replies guys.FSX is not installed in the default location, it's in its own folder on the root of a disk other than C:I can live with the problem if there is not an easy solution but it's something I have never come across before. This is the 3rd reinstall in a couple of months because of various problems and it's such a pain reinstalling all my 3rd party aircraft and scenery with all the hoops you have to go through to prove what you have is legit.
