Info on Narco VOR needed

Featured Replies

Hi peoples i am looking for a bit of info from any real world pilots out there that have experience using a Narco ID825, that is the VOR instrument with the CDI needle as well as the glide slope needed that is usually paired with the Narco Mk12D TSO NAV COM radio. (picture of the instrument in question below) What im wonting to know is weather the NAV flag is always static and where and how the to and from flags are displayed. this is so i can properly simulate the gauges in FS as i only have pictures and no working experience with the gauge :( Any help on this would be greatly appreciatedhave funPaulid825.jpg

Narco doesn't have a "manual" available for download. The only thing I've found is a scanned PDF copy of the avionics shop installation manual:http://www.narco-avionics.com/manuals/MK12D-Inst_03118-620.pdf

Yeah i found that one too, it indicates from the installation testing and the pin connectors from the NAV/COM to the VOR that the 825 has a to/from flag but i cant see it in any of the photos i have so dont know how it is displayed in the instrument. And from what i can glean the NAV flag seen on the dial face is static as there is no NAV flag data sent to the VOR again taken from the fact there is no NAV Flag pin connections between the NAV/COM and the 825. so that's why i was hopping that there was someone out there that has real world experience using one.

looking at the connection diagrams and this graphic I found, the indicator looks fairly standard. It gets the following signals from the nav radio:GS flag ON/OFFVOR/LOC TO/FROMVOR/LOC LEFT/RIGHTGS UP/DOWNAccording to the document the NAV flag works with the TO/FROM arrows such that if either TO or FROM is sensed (TO is always sensed for an LOC type signal) the NAV flag is covered. The attachment shows the UP arrow over the rightside horizontal reference. The DOWN arrow is in the same relative location, just appears under the reference.BTW, I don't see any allowance for a GPS/NAV switch between the receiver and the indicator, though maybe there is a separate option for that.scott s..

Mechanically, the TO/FROM flags are "hidden" behind the slightly curved metal with the deviation index scale, and "pop up" or "pop down" as appropriate. The NAV flag (meaning no-signal!) rotates "up" from where it is likewise "hidden" behind the curved metal with the deviation index scale. The GS flag (meaning no-signal!) obviously rotates "out" from behind the left side of the compass scale.BTW, when searching for photos, do a google.com search, type in the keywords (such as Narco ID 825) then click on the "Images" button at the top of the Google screen. I just did, and found About 1,320 results (0.25 seconds) Of course, not every image will be relevant, but still... :( If you see one you like, you can either right-click and open a new window (to see if a higher resolution is available), or right click and "Copy" to capture the image to your Clipboard. You can then Ctrl-V in your photo program to "paste" it! Neat!
