FSD Cheyenne Prop Gearbox Damage??

Featured Replies

Hi Steve,Conspiracy? I was not implying anything other than a server and software upgrade are always a crap shoot. I'm a pretty happy customer with your products but sometimes find your responses either inexplicable or sarcastic. I guess I don't care which as long as FSD continues to produce some of the finest planes available. Thanks.BobP :)P.S. Thank you for integrating the Reality XP JL2 and 530 into the Cheyenne.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=155370&page=4

Hi GuysYes i was talking about the Pa42 and the Paye the Cheyenne 3+2 respectively. As far as i know the Garret has a ft/lb read out of the Torque as opposed to percent.Nice aircraft the 400LS but not as nice to fly as the 3 which is a gorgeous aircraft to fly.Glad to of helped.I have no idea on the Dash 8 release at the moment. All the bestDarren

Hi,Just copying from FSD tech support FAQ page:Q: When I go to the aircraft in the simulator the aircraft shuts down and I cannot start itorThe engines suddenly shut down while I was flying. A: What you are describing sounds like you have blown out the prop gearboxes. You need to follow the checklist procedures and the POH. In the Loadout section of the POH you can find instructions on how to repair the damage. This should correct the problem for you. Thereafter, be careful not to run the aircraft at maximum prop RPM, except for the takeoff and climb phases of flight. This will damage the prop gearbox. Also, if you prefer you can elect to shut off the persistent damage modeling. The POH section mentioned above will show you how to do that as well. Also, make sure you do not have some kind of 3rd party DLL in your modules folder that is causing problems with your other aircraft. It has been pointed out that some of these DLL modules, particularly ones programmed for use exclusively for specific aircraft and previous versions of the simulator, can interfere with critical internal variables inside FS 2004. Bob,I don't think Steve was trying to be sarcastic. Your original post was a sort of wink..wink comment regarding the hazards of messing with your network hardware. He was giving you a wink..wink sort of answer. We have always appreciated your support Bob.http://www.fsd-international.com/team/TD_forum_sig.gif

Janey,I have to disagree, unfortunately. The issues with the Cheyenne are somewhat more complicated and I believe that we cannot solve them ourselves. Now, I love this bird, but these little things like prop gearbox damage, resetting of flying time/expenses and flying time in minutes rather than in hours put a frown on my face from time to time. I know, it's easy to disable the Realism, but hey, it's there and why not use it? I have yet to see another aircraft where engines will fail if you misuse them, so it's a great feature. Makes you fly right. Still the Cheyenne was worth every penny and I'd recommend it to anyone. Especially with the Jetline 2 retrofit. What a joy to fly! I can't stay away from her! Ugh, this sounds like... :)Regards,Jurehttp://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg

I have overcome the gearbox issue by reducing the prop lever the almost half and never pushing the throttle past 75%. The flight time problem will hopefully be fixed soon? Anyhow, FSDs forum is back up and running. By the way, I asked about the temperature gauge problem and Tim sent me a new gauge file. I haven't tried it yet, but FSD seems to make good products and support their customers. I love the Cheyenne and Commander.
