January 6, 201115 yr Which processor will give the best performance in FS2004 : i5-760 (Quad) OR i5-680 (Dual with HT) ?thanksTrevor
January 6, 201115 yr Are you building a new system? Can you not get a Sandy Bridge (2600K or even just the 2500K) and new motherboard instead? Matthew S
January 6, 201115 yr Author 1. How does the i5-2500 compare to the other two I mentioned ?2. Will the SB 2500 boost performance in FS2004 ?At the moment I have an E7400 Core 2 Duo at 2.8 GHz.Will I get better performance from FS9 if I upgrade to the 2500 with a new Mobo and new ram?Trevor
January 6, 201115 yr OC that E7400 to 3.8GHzish and you'll be laughing. Won't cost you a cent, and it'll give the biggest boost in performance.
January 6, 201115 yr Author Hi ChrisI've never OC before. How do I go about doing this? Will I need a bigger power supply and more cooling? My mobo is a GA-945 GCMX-S2.What and how do I change settings in the BIOS without damaging my computer?Trevor
January 6, 201115 yr It's reasonably safe. You'd have to actually physically try to fry your CPU to do damage. What's your PSU? do you have an aftermarket cooler? There are hundreds of guides online. Google is your friend. Just follow a guide to hit the magic number.
January 6, 201115 yr Chris, I don't think he can over-clock with his current motherboard or even memory if done wrong he could see some nasty errors. Trevor it all depends on your budget the new Intel cpu's and motherboards will be expensive, there due to come out around the 9th of this month. the good thing about the new cpu's coming out is that it should drop the price on the older Processors. but overlocking can be difficult if you don't have the proper motherboard or memory I would wait for some more feedback from other advance users. January 6, 201115 yr In my opinion, he should give it a try first. If he does manage a successful overclock, there you have it. Problem solved. If something does happen, well he was planning on upgrading anyway, so why not? The damage will only be to ram, mobo or CPU which is getting replaced anyways.
January 6, 201115 yr Author OK guys, so back to my original question.Which processor will give me the best performance in FS2004a) i5-760B) i5-680c) i5-2500K ?Trevor
January 6, 201115 yr Simple: i5-2500k. FS mainly cares about CPU speed. Corey Meeks FS2020 | AMD 7800X3D | ASUS ProArt 4080 Super | ASUS B650E-I Mini ITX | 2x32Gb DDR5-6000 CL32 | DELL 38" U3818DW (3840x1600) | FormD T1 | Thermalright AXP90-47 | Thermaltake Toughpower SFX 1000W
