January 15, 201115 yr Bob, Veeray, could you please recommend me some specific RAM, or a link to it as i need to update my specs now and also would 4gb be enough for running ASE RC4, basicly is it enough to run these other apps alongside FSX?Thanks guysI'm going through the same process of specceing a new Sandy Bridge 2600K box.Until now I haven't been able to locate any RAM with CAS 6 or 7 latency on spec voltage i.e. 1,5v.I've narrowed my choices (within my budget and available in Denmark) down to three candidates at rougly the same pricepoint:At 1,5vCorsair Vengeance 2x4 GB 1600 CAS 8Corsair Vengeance 2x4 GB 1866 CAS 9At 1,65vMushkin Redline 2x2 GB 1600 CAS 6 - Possible later upgraded to 4x2 GBSo my question is also if any other specific RAm sets should be considered? And which of the three sets mentioed would be the better choice? Thanks in advance

I think you should look at your heatsink/fan combo for that newCPU. There may be a space issue between the heatsink and the ram. I had that problem. I choose the P8P67Dlx from Asus and with the above ram with those nice little fins on top. The stock Intel cooler for the 2600k is a joke really. It is half the size of the e8500 stock one. I chose a Noctua NH-U12P SE2 with two fans. And with my case (haf932) I opted for the fan orientation & airflow from bottom to top. This is where the Ram fins and the fan clips were touching. Not that much mind you, I just had to bend the (fan)clip a little on the ram side so it would not interfere. What I am saying is it could have been worst. When you choose your heatsink make sure you know the spacing you will have for the Ram. In my case the Noctua required 40mm min spacing which I did not have because the Vengeance with their heat sink protrude by more than 10mm.Final word: I am still installing. I am in the software part now. But that chip is good: It idles at 27C on all cores and runs 3.4ghz. Initial benchmarks indicate good numbers for the CPU and the RAM. Next steps: Fine tune the OS, install FSX (new installation).Hope this helps,Pierre Pierre I9 14900K 5.5 64gb ram 6800 RTX5090 Asus Strix Gaming E
January 16, 201115 yr Author O.K guys i had a little look about and found these....Mushkin radioactive ddr3 4gb @1600 mhz cas 6-8-6-24. Any good?Bump! Chris Howard
January 16, 201115 yr Hi Chris,If the voltages are 1.65V, you could turn them down to 1.5V with CL7. They should be fine then.
