Restarting RC4 in mid flight, possible?

Featured Replies

Sometimes near the end of a flight I receive a OOM error and the flight stops. I fly heavies with FS2004, RC4 and FDC Live cotpit. I also (throught FSUIPC) save a flight every 5 minutes. I can restart FS2004 with the "saved flight" and also restart FDC but I can not figgure out how to "restart" RC4 in mid flight. Is it possibe and if so how do you do it? Thanks jerrycwo4

Hi,Unfortunately I don't think it is possible to restart Radar Contact midway through a flight. You have to be on the ground at an airport to achieve this.Sorry,Neil

Update . . .Yes you can. I have just remembered. I haven't used RC lately.Save a flight as you do with FS (with ;), or let AutoSave.dll from Peter Dowson save at pre-determined intervals.Every time a flight is saved, RC saves its own data automatically.Use the Load Previously Saved .RCDs button to re-start in mid-flight.It is all in the manual - start at page 120.John

RC will not save the state of a panel that uses proprietary FS interfacing like the PMDG series. Those that stick to the FS9 SDK so the state can be captured and reloaded should be OK.Pete Dowson's autosave will save all including the RC state at intervals you specify as I recall and a user selected maximum indvidual file count o preserve disk space. As an extension to this RC can save the state of a flight or pause say 200 nm from destination when letting its co-pilot pilot fly an aircraft it can control (again, not the PMDG types). This lets you take a break (say sleep) on a long pond crossing and resume the flight taking control for the descent and arrival.

Pete Dowson's autosave will save all including the RC state at intervals you specify as I recall and a user selected maximum indvidual file count o preserve disk space.
PD's Autosave files do indeed have a maximum and delete the oldest to maintain that figure. But the corresponding files that RC creates do not seem to manage themselves in the same way and aggregate in quantity.John
