Captainsim 757

Featured Replies

Good morning everyone,Yesterday I finally installed the Justflight version of Captainsim's 757 200/300, however into FS9 for now. I've always had the older model "block" system and did not get anything out of it due to lack of full systems programming. In FS9 and the FPS performance was great on my newer rig. Now that I installed the newer version in FS9 it really hits performance as compared to the older but it is acceptable in most places. I wanted to know how this particular add on hits FSX if anyone can give me your experience before I install the FSX version. For an example, I can run the PMDG JS4100 with medium settings which is very complex as we all know. I always try to avoid the install & uninstall routine when possible. That's why I wanted some feedback before proceeding. Thanks in advance for your help everyone. :)Warm regards, Jeff

Jeff, I've seen people complain about the CS757 frame rate impact in FSX, but my experience has always been the opposite. I find that on my rig it performs very well, not much worse on FPS than the default planes. Maybe I'm just special :(. I don't have the JS4100, but I'd expect it to have a bit of a hit. If you can run it smoothly, it doesn't seem to me you'd have any trouble with the CS model.Bill

Hi, Bill, Thanks for your reply. I guess I'll give it a shot. I'd much rather use FSX over FS9, but actually as of lately, I've been having a blast with FS9 as smooth as it runs. I am going to make another thread, as I installed the newer alternate FPS limiter that some users had issues with in FSX into FS9 and it actually works and FS9 has never run smoother compared to the external limiter. Thanks again. I still havn't tried any repaints from our coversation over at Carenado forums, but hopefully soon. Talk to you soon. :)Warm regards, Jeff

You should be able to get a good idea from this video. It's a full flight from Manchester to Heathrow both with UK2000 scenery addons, UTXEurope, GEX Europe, ASE with REX2 clouds/water. Scenery is Extremely Dense and Autogen Dense. My system is an E6850 @ 3.Ghz 4GB mem and a 9800GTX. Which would classify as a mid range system by today's standards. It is 1:40:00 long, so (assuming you watch the whole thing) you should get an idea of the performance in different areas. Obviously London will be the hardest hit, but not really that bad. My advice is just ignore the FPS counter.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8C7cdHx2sw

Thanks

The framerates are not bad as long as you don't use their weather radar. It is a 5-10 fps hit.

Hi everyone,Well, it does hit FSX somewhat harder than I thought , but it seems ok for now. One big thing I noticed is that the ACE utility does not allow you to block the cabin out like it does in FS9. That is just plain crazy they do not offer that option as FSX takes much more of a hit than FS9 does. Has anyone figured a way to eliminate the cabin or have any suggestions? If not, I might try the Captainsim forums if I need to, but the community is much larger and more diversified here at Avsim. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.Warm regards, Jeff
