January 31, 201115 yr It's possible to build a decent computer pretty inexpensively, my current desktop cost about $600, and is quite nice.

February 1, 201115 yr I recently (4 months ago) built a desktop for fsx. AMD athlon II x3, GTX465 & 8GB ram. I think the total on it was around $900, mainly because of the case (It had 7 fans already set up) and the video card.Honestly I have no preference when it comes to AMD or Intel. I think Intel makes the better cpu's, but that also comes with a higher price tag. From what I understand once you hit 2-3 cores the rest are wasted when it comes to FSX, so I figured $120 for a 3.6GHz 3core AMD was a fair deal. That $900 also doesn't include the SSD boot drive left over from a previous laptop upgrade... If you going to get an i5/7 you should definately look into the new ones that just came out. You could get an i5-2500K at a Microcenter for under $200. What GPU is that? All it says is that its a GTX, which could be quite a few things. If you build it yourself you should be able to get a system with a 2500K and a really good GPU for around $1000. If you don't want to build it yourself, you should definately find someone who can build it for. If you want a good computer, don't buy it from one of those big companies, you'll only get less specs for more money. I learned the hard way after I bought my computer from Dell last year. February 1, 201115 yr Commercial Member Watch out with the Sandy Bridge stuff for a few weeks at least - Intel today just recalled all the H67 and P67 motherboard chipsets they've made. There's a serious flaw in the SATA controller portion of it. $400 million recall. Ryan MaziarzFor fastest support, please submit a ticket at http://support.precisionmanuals.com
