January 31, 201115 yr ok, so I have a quad core computer, what does that really mean?is a core like a separate cpu? or ??thanks Ciao!
January 31, 201115 yr A core is a unit, which can carry out tasks. I you have a Quad core, is has 4 cores, which means it can carry out 4 tasks simultaneously. Best regards, Steffen Fight time: NGX 737-700: 37,0h; -800: 47,2h
January 31, 201115 yr When I stared using micro processor computers many, many years ago a CPU was just a micro processor. Then some smart engineers came up with the idea to create a single chip that contained several processing units, or cores. So you could see a multi core chip as a single chip that have several processors embedded.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-core_processor
January 31, 201115 yr The simple answer is yes, a "core" is like a CPU, so a 4-core CPU is really like 4 CPUs on a single chip.Cheers,- jahman.
