Low FPS when on Vatsim

Featured Replies

This is not a problem for me, but for a friend of mine. He uses Vatsim a lot. I try to help him out once in a while since he lives in nearby and we have become good friends via FSX. He said that he gets 20-25 fps at JFK with the PMDG MD11. As soon as he does the same flight on Vatsim, FPS drops to 8fps. The only thing I thought of was an issue with FSUIPC. We tried an older version, but this caused more problems. Planes not loading and FSX crashing when its loading up. We put back the new version and now its working again, but with this problem of only getting 8 FPS when on Vatsim only.Any ideas as to what the problem is?Thanks for any inputRob

Hmmm, it could depend on AI traffic. SB4 uses the crappy FS9 ai models for its default traffic. So if he's flying online with many users, many of those fs9 style models will appear. That's the only thing I can think of.

I am only a newbie with VATSIM myself but if you are using Squawk Box 4 run launch it outside of FSX and not from the add-on window tab in FSX. I read on one of the forums there was some kind of bug when it is launched in FSX. My first flight crashed on me as well as the 2nd, but I was able to reconnect. My 3rd try I launched it outside FSX and had no problems at all.Jim

Nothing in on-line flying with FSX uses FSUIPC -- they all use SimConnect directly. As others have said, it will be the FS9 aircraft models which are not good in FSX.RegardsPete
