That answers my question about the PT6 mounted backwards, but that still doesn't answer my free-wheeling prop question. I understand how a turboprop works.Does anybody have information on the Cessna 208 air intake? NOT MY PICTURE.It appears that the PT6 in the Caravan is mounted on its left side in the engine nacelle (looking from the pilot's perspective)? Is the right intake for the oil cooler? Bleed air? APU air? Anybody? Also, in aircraft such as the Fairey Gannet with two turboprops (RR Mambas in the Gannet's case) geared through a common gearbox driving contra-rotating propellors, which lever (e.g. prop, throttle, condition levers) and/or engine controls which propellor? The prop levers and throttles are side-by-side, and the actual props are front-and-back. I've seen vids of Gannet pilots shutting one engine down and feathering that prop. What factor dictates which engine controls which propellor?
Going by that picture you linked, that is just a pt6 rotated a bit. Yes that is the oil o cooler on the left.

I'm trying to increase torque as indicated by a panel gauge without increasing RPM.Slow spool-up can be simulated by increasing the propeller_moi figure; problem is then that it takes a long time for the props to stop spinning!;)

In a turbo-prop power or torque controls replace throttle controls in terminology (except for condition levers which are ground idle and flight idle). Torque is measured at the prop shaft output of the reduction gears. Prop RPM is controlled by the Prop lever which controls prop pitch. N1, the low pressure, turbine is not shown, on turbo-props. N2, the high pressure turbine is shown. So if I understand you correctly, you are trying to align the N2 numbers to the torque reading.Torque is a result of prop pitch (RPM) and power applied (N2). I'm thinking maybe the Power Scalar in this section of aircraft.cfg might help:[turboprop_engine]power_scalar=1.000 maximum_torque=3500.000 max_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000idle_rpm_mechanical_efficiency_scalar=1.000max_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000idle_rpm_friction_scalar=1.000In the propeller section you might want to adjust the Gear Reduction ratio as I think that would affect the torque load for the turbine N2 applied. Their is also a thrust scaler in that section.This is to me more complicated the a pure jet setup in the relationship of the gauges.http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555857 is the still good links to the FS9 SDKs. Grab the Aircraft Container Kit and check pages 16 through 22 for explanation of these variables. Load up the turboprop of interest in FS and try it. Then to make your changes load up a reciprocal prop, make your turbo-prop aircraft.cfg changes, then reload that turbo-prop still in the FS flight window using the menu bar drop-down to select aircraft and that will refresh the model with the new parameters. You can go back and forth to see the effects without restarting FS and loading scenery each time saving lots of time.I think I'm on the right track here.
