Topic Locked!?

Featured Replies

I just posted the topic "Can FSX Run at Peak Performance without Overclocking" above and I see that it is LOCKED. I don't know how this got selected but I assume it prevents replies? How do I undo this?? I could not find it in the help files.

AFAIK you can´t unlock it, olny one of the moderators can do this. But why is it locked? I just read it and I found nothing for what it´s worth locking this topic. Maybe you have to post it again in the hardware section. But that can´t be the point why it got locked, cause normaly misposted toipcs get shiftet to the appropriate forum.

Best regards, Steffen

This will set you on the right path, Tom. The tech in 'the computer shop' doesn't know jack about FSX. Don't be afraid of overclocking, or blowing up an i7. There are 920's running at over 5gig - a few have even gone by six. Mine has hit 4.5, but I keep it at just under 4.3gig at a vCore of 1.64 volts and 62 deg. You will need to keep it cool, of course - there's any number of good air coolers that will allow a 4-gig oc. Water is a tad more expensive, but it won't break the bank.http://forums.pureoverclock.com/showthread.php?threadid=5736

Paul,Please help us helping you.I've locked the original thread because we have a dedicated forum for hardware questions. So your answer is not appropriate here.

Thanks Paul,As I said, I know nothing about overclocking. I just changed the numbers as I was told. We tried several combinations - voltages, speed, etc. Funny thing is I have no problems as long as I keep the machine on, put it to sleep, or restart within windows. I even start up after a complete shutdown at times. Other times when I go to restart from a cold shutdown I get no beep or anything. When I power down and restart again I get the overclock failed message. The weird thing is if I then try to reboot, I get another failure unless I also shut off the power button on the back of the power supply. If I do this first, it restarts fine. Thanks for the help. Tom
