They have been saying PC's will be gone after 10 years for the past 20.   This will not happen.   There are much more things you can do on a PC than on XBOX.   The mobile industry is growing the most right now.  That will even begin to level off over time as the market gets saturated with various mobile devices. The reason the PC games at Fry's, Best Buy, and Walmart have shrunk is because most distributors are moving to a download marketplace.   This is because bandwidth has increased dramatically.   It is also a lot more cost effective for them in the long run.The PC gaming industry is not going away - if you think it is then tell that to Blizzard, who has several of the most successful PC games on the market.
Bill,The PC game space shrunk in size, many, many years before the distributors moved to a download marketplace.  Download distribution does not explain this reduction.   Its pure economics/demographics.  The console game market has grown to be about 6 times the size of the PC game market.Another point,  Blizzard has actually hurt the PC game market.  WOW has 16 millions subscribers, and a large percentage of that user base, only plays WOW (WOW addicts) .  Without WOW these 16 million subscribers would have purchased many many more games,

Xbox version will never happen because at the heart of every Xbox game runs a flawless 60fps refresh rate. Only a few noticable exceptions to that rule which are allowed to drop down to 30, but you better be selling a few million copies like GTAIV. Good luck even getting FSX to run at 30fps without stripping out features like autogen.
Not a problem ;) Consoles run well because they’re a fixed target. Building to suit one hardware configuration solves so many problems. FSX could absolutely be made to run at 60fps. Every game struggles to hit this target. And of course display setting would be disabled. The issue is add-ons…but I don't see them happening for any hypothetical 360 port. Perhaps for a next-gen xbox. The PC and console markets ebb and flow. Folks have been predicting the death of PC games for a years and years. But I've seen no reason to take them seriously. In fact for now the smart money is actually in desktop games...the audiences are just so much bigger (consider Zynga). That will change in time too. But right now developers like Activision have been knocked on their heels. The other things is desktop horsepower is seriously eclipsing console horsepower - as it does from time to time. So, for the next few years PC graphics will easily surpass console graphics.

I don't doubt it could be. done... I just doubt it would look good afterwards to justify a 360 release :)

Maybe, but arn't we making too many assumptions about Flight performance...? - It could be well capable of 60fps on 360 related (PC inspired) hardware and still look great!More to the point though, on the PC market decline - it has done for years - market forces. However a demograhic exists on the PC that doesn't anywhere else, if you want to simulate a tractor where else can you do that other than the PC hehe! Todays consoles borrow so much from the PC's open architecture, on the software side first person perspective shoot'emups had its birth on the PC and now dominate console games... it would be impossible to just drop PC's from the mix of software sales. What platform do you think these games are developed on after all... The PC games suit a slightly more mature audiance, I'm very happy with my lot on the PC. Only ever really had a gripe with Rockstar for not making Red Dead Redemption for the PC, but other than that I'm ok with it's collection of titles.Cheers,Dave.
