February 22, 201115 yr I haven't bought the FlyTampa Kai Tak yet, because I want the buildings but not the airport. Is it possible to set the scenery up (I really want the buildings of Hong Kong!!! and the photoreal scenery) so Kai Tak is disabled and it represents real world aviation as it is today?I posted in FlyTampa's forums but yet only one reply that hasn't answered my query (but thanks for the reply). Thanks for any help anyone can give.I have Thomas Kwongs beautiful VHHH. Love it. And the Project Visual HK. But the autogen buildings just aren't right.Daniel
February 22, 201115 yr Kai-Tak was closed in 1998. I think FlyTampa's buildings would represent how Hong Kong looked in 1998 - not today. If you are desperate to have the particular FlyTampa buildings, then you could just buy the scenery and enjoy it. Just look the other way when you fly past Kai-Tak! :( Graeme Butler
February 22, 201115 yr Commercial Member Actually, FlyTampa uses many of more current buildings in it's package. You could install the program and then by trial-n-error, remove .bgl files in the scenery folder one at a time (or several) which will remove certain parts of the airport. You might get lucky and remove the parts of the airport you don't want to see. Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11), EVGA 1300W PSUNetgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displaysFull array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.

I wasn't sure, but I sure didn't see that building a few years ago. I noticed it last year in HK though. Thanks for the tip.Daniel

If you have to, look the other way but, believe me, by excluding Kai Tak, you are missing out on one of the most classic airport approaches of all time - it is great to fly into and a real challenge particularly in a heavy jet - try it and enjoy! I'm just sorry it has closed in reality although the airport itself from a passenger viewpoint is incomparable with Chep Lap Kok with has replaced it!! I have a soft spot for Chicago Meigs too and still have a useable version of it so I guess I am just a sucker for nostalgia!Bill

I am not saying I don't want Kai Tak nostalgia (When I feel like a bit of Kai Tak action I will definitely jump in!). I just want a current op on HK. I have been informed you cannot exclude it by Martin at FlyTampa (Thanks for his quick reply!). Maybe scenery developers can keep this in mind next time? I am not criticizing the scenery so don't get me wrong anyone, ok????? I am not 'hating' it!!!Now, with that said, the buildings look great, and the ability to use FlyTampa in both FS9 and FSX is awesome. Cheers for the replies.DanielPS I was sad I missed Kai Tak in real life. Got to HK in 1998........and been going ever since.
