February 22, 201115 yr Hi folks,Just began experimenting with using the external fps limiter. So far it seems to be working okay, but I want to use it in conjunction with REX. Usually I start fsx via REX, but that won't work using the external fps limiter. What is the step-by-step process others are using in firing up fsx, rex, and the fps limiter? Thanks!Alex Malek AMD 5830X Nvidia RTX 3060 Win 11
February 23, 201115 yr Start REX. In the configuration manager, you will see two options (among others) Start REX weather Engine with FSX and Start REX with FSX. Put a tick in both, then exit REX. Now, when you start FSX with the FPS Limiter, REX will start with FSX.Russell.
December 11, 201114 yr Sorry to necro an old thread, but how would it work to get rex to install and load real world weather then? as I thought that you had to start rex and have it inject and load its stuff first, then it would start FSX...Sorry if that question is kinda of dumb, but I just really figured out how to work the whole rex thing.ThanksAnd again, sorry to bring up an old thread. December 11, 201114 yr It depends on how you use REX.1. if you only want to use the REX textures, install them and if you like them and don't want to change them anymore, you can forget about REX: you don't need to open REX anymore until you want to install new textures.2. if you also want to use the REX weather engine, enable 'Start REX weather Engine with FSX': after doing so you again don't have to open REX at all anymore (unless you want to install other textures, of course): whenever you start FSX you will see the REX weather engine starting automatically and it will do its job just fine.3. this one should be obvious by now, but still: If you like to install different REX textures every single time (to match the textures with the weather for instance), only THEN you have to open REX everytime.I only use one set of REX textures which I have been using for ages now, so I never ever open REX (I use ASE for weather). My set of textures are fine for every weather condition too! It is NOT mandatory to start FSX through REX.
December 11, 201114 yr I am a fairly new REX user, this is what I have been doing as I prefer not to have the main REX program running whilst flying, but do use it's weather program. In the REX Configuration tab, I have it set to:Enable REX weather engineEnable REX weather engine startup with FSXI do not have enable auto launch flight simulator checked. You probably already know this, after I installed all the REX textures the first time, I deselected the water textures in the options tab, to save on texture load times for any new flights. So when I prepare for a new flight:I launch REX - Open the flight planner, and create or load a flight plan using real world weather.I load the WX textures for that flight plan.I save the flight plan, then rather than clicking the OK button where it says it will launch FSX, I click cancel and close down the REX program.I then launch FSX, the weather engine starts with it, I minimize it, then load my flight plan and off I go.The reason I came to doing this, is I have a specific profile for my Track IR for FSX, tied to the FSX executable, and found if I let REX launch FSX, that profile was not loading.I will probably eventually get to where I just do not even load REX and keep with the same textures overall as Jeroen does...
