February 23, 201115 yr Just wondering if anyone has got Ground Texture Plus for FS9 by Simview and if so is it any good? I have only seen it mentioned once on this forum but there was no review about it. There doesn't seem to be much at all on the web about this product anywhere, just on SimMarket which has a couple of good reviews but that is all. Is this a good all round package as it seems quite a reasonable price... Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Packard Bell imedia S3210. AMD Athlon II X 3 425 Processor 2.70 GHz. 3 GB RAM. External hard drive 1TB. FS9.1, Ground Environment, Ultimate Terrain Europe, REX, Zinertek's Ultimate Water Advanced & Ultimate Night Environment 2010, WOAI, MAIW, AES, ODG Project.

However I have to say that I do not like the Ground Texture Plus water textures which I have replaced with the REX water textures which I had previously installed. I am attaching screenshots near Shannon which compares the two - on the left is default scenery with GE and on the right default scenery with Ground Texture Plus (including the GTPlus water textures which ). Hope this helps your decision but I have to say I do like GTPlus and it is good value!Bill
February 23, 201115 yr Author Thanks for the info although how do I obtain it then if I want to buy it as the only place I have seen it is on SimMarket? Also I have VFR Photographic Scenery and VFR Terrain already installed, how would having this programme installed as well affect the scenery? Or will it have to be one or the other? Or will it have to be one or the other?HiIf you Google it, it will still come up with a SimMarket link but there is no 'buy now' link to click on SimMarket, so, to be honest, I don't know how you can get it - maybe it will reappear! With regard to VFR Photographic Scenery and VFR Terrain, I also have these and there is no conflict. All Ground Textures Plus does is to enhance the default textures, but VFR Photographic Scenery essentially replaces any default textures so even if you have Ground Textures Plus installed, it will only enhance the ground appearance in areas where the default FS2004 textures are being used and it won't affect VFR Photographic scenery (VFR Terrain is terrain mesh so it doesn't have any bearing on the textures which overlie the mesh like a tablecloth as it were!). By the way if you want to enhance the VFR Photographic Scenery significantly (if you haven't already done it) , read the recent thread on the Avsim Forum regarding London scenery - I was amazed at the improvement achievable using the Shepsshed addons in the otherwise somewhat dull and lifeless VFR Photographic scenery, albeit only in a limited number of areas!Bill
