February 28, 201115 yr Greetings all,I'm not a designer so please forgive my ignorance. I downloaded a scenery for KLEX (Lexington KY) that was made with AED9 and it's my first time installing this type. The installation documentation was written for someone with more experience I suppose. I managed to find and install the required scenery objects and now the scenery is showing-up, but the new ILS information isn't working. The last line of the install notes is "Don't forget your AFCAD AF2_KLEX.bgl should be disabled or deleted" How do I find this file? I tried a file search, but no luck. You can view the scenery info here (sorry it's not on AVSIM):http://flightsim.com/zview.php?cm=list&fid=149484Any help is greatly appreciated!!!Thank you,cap10jaf
February 28, 201115 yr Let me download and take a look. Watch for my next reply if someone doesn't beat me to it.Randy Edit: Alright, I downloaded the file and looked at it with ADE9x. The scenery has no ILS information attached to it (nor any apporaches) so MSFS will use the stock data found in the default KLEX information. The ILS data for Rwy 04 is correct, but the ILS data for Rwy 22 is incorrect according to the current information off AirNav.com which was current as of AIRAC 1101. AirNav shows the ILS frequency to be 111.75 but 110.50 is the stock frequency. You can still use the scenery as is, but instead of tuning 111.75 you need to tune 110.50 on your NAV1 Radio. If you have ADE9x, it is a pretty simple process of correcting this information. The manual explains the prcedure in detail. As for the warning about disabling AFCAD AF2_KLEX.bgl I am pretty sure (but not 100% positive) the scenery author is talking about any addon modifications from previous sceneries. What the AFCAD does is make the AI aircraft react "properly". I would hope he is not trying to get users to disable the default file, because I believe it is contained within the stock data bgl's and you should never, ever, under any circumstances modify those AP/AB/Etc files unless you are an experienced and I mean very, very experienced...way beyond my level of expertise...scenery designer. For your uses, the way the airport is remembering to use 110.50 in lieu of the correct 111.75 should be fine. The scenery itself looks very nice.RandyRamjett53
February 28, 201115 yr Author Thank you for the detailed explanation Randy. I was going nuts with this one. It's hard to believe someone would go to the trouble of upgrading the scenery and not change the ILS freq. Thanks again for taking the time,Greg D.
March 1, 201115 yr According to FAA, frequency was changed effective 8 July 2009. Author probably just neglected to check.scott s..

I would have some concerns about this file if the Approaches are not in it. ADE will exclude stock approaches. Generally - if the airport is not started from the stock airport - the correct method is to load the stock approaches etc into the project. I checked the stock airport and there are 12 approaches listed. I would not expect any of them to show up if this bgl is used. Navaids are slightly different. The absence of them from this Bgl should not stop the stock ones showing up although, again, the common approach would be to load the stock data into the ADE project if it was not started from a stock airport. We fly the LSH Maddog shared-cockpit into KLEX and not having accurate real-world navigation data is not acceptable. I'm going to download ADE9x and fix it myself. I may be back with questions if that's alright.Thank you,Greg D.

March 2, 201115 yr Author I'm going to download ADE9x and fix it myselfLast night I braced myself, and dove into AED9x. I jumped right to the chapters on ILS and Approach design and had the new ILS frequency operational within a few minutes. It's hard to believe AED9x is freeware. Thanks All,Greg D.

March 3, 201115 yr Author Thanks Greg - we do accept donations of course :(I hear that! How much should I donate for using it one time to fix someone's ILS approach?:wacko:But seriously, I appreciate it.Thanks again,Greg
March 5, 201115 yr Greg,I guarantee if you download it and use it once...you will come back to it over and over and over time after time because there is always something in FS that is...just not quite right and needs tweaked. ADE9x is your tool for that.Randy
