POSKY CRJ 200 and what panel?

Featured Replies

I'm trying to gather info, so I can start building my aircraft hangar. I like shorter regional routes so I thought the CRJ would be a good one to add, but I see there aren't many choices out there. I'd like to stay with freeware for now.I've seen some videos of the POSKY CRJ 200 (looks very good) and it seems a lot of people like it, so I think I'm going to give that a try. However, I'd like to add a panel that will accept the Ernie Alston's ISG FMS add on. I know Hector Molina's panel has been retrofitted with ISG FMS. But, what about the Skydeck CRJ panel? Will it also accept the ISG add on? Those of you using the POSKY CRJ, what are your experiences and what do you recommend?Todd

The Posky CRJ 700 is a much newer and more up to date model, but unfortunately doesn't have a VC. Another alternative is the ERJ-145 which in my mind is a much more attractive aircraft anyway. The model is newer than the CRJ-200 and uses some XML controlled animations, plus there's a (functionally limited) VC version available which gives you something to look at on long flights if nothing else. The Bill Grabowski panel is amazing for it's age, and can even be merged into the ERJ's VC.If you're interested here's a tutorial I made on setting everything up from downloading the files to optomizing the textures:http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/inst_erj145.htmlI just updated it a few days ago so the download links point to the new free sky project site instead of the former Posky site.Jim

Thank you, Jim! I'm sorry to take so long to acknowlege your reply. I forgot where I posted this and didn't select 'email me when replied'. Good recommendation! :(

One question - is there any way to retrofit the grabowski panel with the ISG simavionics Smith FMS? I did see on the ISG website that there's a retrofit using the Honeywell FMS. Maybe not a big deal if it works the same as the Smith style FMS.Todd

I do my own panel instrument insertion using FS Panel Studio distributed by Flight1.com, about $25 for the download version. It is quick and easy and operates like a word processor for images. It displays the panel background (used in each view and which you can edit with a separate linked photo editor of your choice) and treats each instrument as an overlaid object. You can move those around, resize, delete, and add them. You also have access to an XML code window if supported by that object. What you see is what you get.A few years ago purchased the Reality-XP Apollo 50 GPS, Radar, and both Jetline suites and fitted the various gauges and edited the background bitmaps as necessary for the POSKY CRJ200 accomplishing everything with FS Panel Studio. I also used gauges from freeware downloaded gauges and panels. I've modified about six models. I intend to do the same using the ISG instrument suite which I have acquired.FSPS was the first add-on utility I purchased way back when I started in FS8 and its What You See Is What You Get display saved me lots of time with minimal hand editing - if any - of the panel.cfg files. It was well worth the cost to provide me with the capability of modifying freeware panels to make them more advanced.I use airliners.net to seek out cockpit photos as one reference. The only thing to check with ISG and Reality-XP is that for some suites you need to check the documentation to look at gauge inter-dependency. Gauges that need to be present including 'blind' gauges can be dragged outside of the view if not needed to be seen or can be placed or added to a pop-up view window for adjustment as needed.
