RC4 is a fantastic product

Featured Replies

Hi allWhat a fantastic product RC4 is. I wish I had purchased it years ago.Installation was no problem, setup was easy and when flying I was back in heaven. This product is an absolute must for the serious IFR flight sim enthusiast.I look forward to RC5 - if it's anything like RC4 you cannot go wrong :)Cheers from Down Under.

I fully agree -- and it'll only get better with 5 :)

Thank you for your kind comments. To get the most accuracy especially with any add-on scenery installed be sure to update FSUIPC and makerwys.exe as posted in the links topic pinned at the head of the forum. ASfter doing the makerwys update be sure to run from within RC (FS not running) the scenery database rebuild.

It would be nice if I were able to increase the font size inside the ATC box and darken the background. Is it possible to add one's own voice as pilot replying to ATC instruction?I still have yet to fault the program :)I'm loving it.

The only change you can make to the font is to select the characters in white. Go into your FS modules folder. Make a safe copy of FSUIPC.ini in another folder. In your modules folder open FSUIPC.ini with Notepad or Wordpad. Place the following line into the General section:WhiteMessages=YesSave it as a text file but keep the extension as .ini.The other way is to start FS, click on the FS menubar (alt- brings it up) modules, then FSUIPC. I think the white messages is an option on the general tab but I'm not sure.

Thanks Ronzie. Will try and see what it looks like.

Is it possible (as a sidenote question) to build intop RC5 the option to show vs no-show of the ATC box? It will help getting ATC comments to be better understood (meaning listen more vs reading)

That would be fine if you could tell what menu items you may wish to select... say you want Altimeter Check... the location and selection changes based on where you are in a given flight... ( don't quote me on any of this.. my memory changes from day to day :-) )

uhm Jim, I meant that it'd be nice if I, as a RC user, can select to see the RC ATC window or not. It would help me and possible others more if we'd learn to listen to ATC instead of reading what instructions ATC gives. It's a step further into talking+listening to ATC.

It is not in the manual. On the general tab of RC check 'IFR TRAINING'. This only allows the menu window to show, that is the next checkpoint and bearing will not show.If you are seeing text for RC audio commands then on the same tab make sure 'DISPLAY TEXT' is not enabled. Also make sure in your FS modules folder advdispl.dll is renamed to .dlx.You can toggle the entire RC-FSUIPC window on and off. Look for a toggle command in the function key assignments tab of FSUIPC. After making a backup of FSUIPC.ini you can also add it directly to the General section. I use Ctrl-X and here's my statement:AdvDisplayHotKey=88,10If it is toggled off it will reappear on the next RC command so you can respond. I toggle it off when I need a better full view out of the windscreen such as for taxiing around corners.

Great! Thanks for sharing that info Ron. It'll be most helpful!
