March 27, 201115 yr I've tried everything. Wiped FSX, SP2, Accel, edited the dll.xml, made sure the modules are trusted etc. The addon tab will not appear at all, no matter what I do.. I just can't get it to appear. I've followed some threads, that say you should delete some of the simconnect.dll's in winsxs, but that folder is protected heavily and I can't delete the parent folder (yes I know, don't touch winsxs crew's with your OS, all that) Point is, it just won't appear.. I can't activate my flightbeam scenery, edit pmdg options, use fsrecorder etc.. I've tried pretty much everything, any advice?Ronald Griffin

March 27, 201115 yr Moderator Anyone who suggests deleting SimConnect .dll files is talking out of their posterior! These .dll files just sit there silently, waiting for any addon application that was compiled for a specific version to "call for them," otherwise they remain benign, simply taking up a modest amount of hard drive space...There's a reason why they are placed in a folder named Side-by-Side after all! :( Fr. March 27, 201115 yr Author I just went through the SDK installation, nothing has changed. The question is then, how do I restore my simconnect.dll? I can't put anything back in the winsxs folder, and I don't know what installer package the simconnect was a part of, I was hoping re-install would help :(
March 31, 201115 yr Commercial Member You can try activating the Simconnect diagnostic mode, this way:Open Notepad (or any other pure text editor), and copy the following text: [simConnect]level=verboseconsole=1RedirectStdOutToConsole=1OutputDebugString=1; file=c:\simconnect%03u.log; file_next_index=0; file_max_index=9 Save the file as SIMCONNECT.INI in this folder:Documents And Settings\YOUR LOGIN NAME\Documents\Microsoft Flight Simulator X FilesAt the next FSX launch, you should see a text window with diagnostic messages: the FIRST 5-6 lines are important: you should try to note what they are saying. If the screen scroll too fast, you can use the Pause key on your keyboard, to be able to read the first lines. The first lines should tell you which Simconnect version you have. If you don't see errors at the start of the log, or no diagnostic at all, it's possible you don't have any Simconnect running, which will probably require a full FSX + all Service Packs reinstall.
