November 22, 200322 yr Dear fellows,I've tried EVERYHING for months now....1)I upgraded my computer to a P4 3Gb, Asus P4C800-E, 2x512 RAM, Audigy2, FX5900 Ultra. Running under WinXP, Dx9.0b.2) I tried every new driver3) I tried without joystick, without sound card (?),without FSUIPC4) I tweaked my Nvidia card5) I played with Windows memory6) I tried TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=400, =800, =1200....and other fs9.cfg changes7) I updated my monitor's driver (IIyama HM204DT) 22'8) I tried different screen resolutions9) I reinstalled FS2004 on a formated partition10)I tried with FS2004 default options11)I made a clean install with a friend's FS2004 CDs12) I reistalled Windows.....and I still have those f...... white or brown squares when changing view or panning around the aircraft as you can see on the pic. Despite my good machine, the textures take time to be loaded.I've searched on various forums. there are few guys with the same problem but I never found an answer to this issue. Those squares can take third of the screen and you'll understand perfectly that I can't "live with that".Returning to FS2002??? Is that the only solution? If someone has the answer, I will offer him/her my gratitude for the rest of my life and even after :) Thanks for your attentionDavid in Jerusalemhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/49548.jpg - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr Author David,Is it possible to try memory 1x512. I know, this should NOT be the solution but could give a clue.No problems with your hard disk ?Hessel Oosten Netherlands
November 22, 200322 yr It's a data transfer RATE problem, not a problem within the sim. I would check the motherboard and BIOS settings, even check for updated BIOS. Allcott
November 22, 200322 yr Thanks Hessel but I also tried that.(I forgot!) - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr Allcott you give me some hope. Is there a specific command I sould check on the BIOS for data transfer rate? Many thanks - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr Hessel, I also changed my HD to a fast 120Gb and have the same problem...In fact I have this problem since FS2004's release and from that day I have upgraded all my PC, component after component, to a complete new machine (excepted the box and the CD/DVD). - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr I had the same problem until tweaking my systemm bios. I adjusted my ram timing and several other settings. I am no expert to tell you what to do. I did it with the book for my motherboard in hand for reference. I am running smooth now though.
November 22, 200322 yr This issue looks more to lie within the fs9.cfg....try changing the value on the line:TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=200By default, mine read '40', but I changed it to '200', and the problem that I was having, much as you describe, has gone. I had those big brown squares that took several seconds to get textures and they were infuriating, but after doing a search in these forums, the above suggestion came to light. For me it works fine. I believe that the upper limit to the new value is '400'; haven't tried....'200' does it for me!
November 22, 200322 yr Thanks Aonyn.I am not an expert either for BIOS tweakings but I will give a try. - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr Thanks Yarvelling but no difference - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
November 22, 200322 yr I have a similar problem with my ATI 9000. I think it has to do with anisotropic filtering and the high water settings. Try turning off AF in your drivers, maybe that helps.-Daniel
November 22, 200322 yr DavidTry setting the Vsync option in the Display Properties/More Direct3D to 'Always Off' with a 'render frames ahead' of 10 . Use this in conjunction with a 'texture_bandwidth_mult' of about 200.If the value 10 gives you too much of a display lag between joystick/yoke input and frame rendering, lower it. But I don't think a value of 10 will be noticeable while using the aircarft controls. You can try set it higher if you still get too many unfilled frames. It looks like you were panning to the right on the display you posted. The unfillled frames are always toward the far end of whichever direction the pan is going, which means that the processor was not able to fill them as yet.The downside is that 'vsync off' tends to produce some scenery wavering toward the bottom of the display but I have not seen any image tearing in FS9 with vsync off. This is a fairly quick tweak, so try various frames ahead and bandwidth values and see if they make a difference.Hope it helps.
November 22, 200322 yr Try lowering your AGP setting in the BIOS to 8mb and if you're getting the squares when panning in spot mode try lowering your pan rate in the aircraft.cfg.billg
November 22, 200322 yr DavidI just remembered that, if you haven't already, you will have to activate the coolbits registry entry with one of the tweaking tools to access the vsync options. The nvhardpage utility is available at guru3d.com and will accomplish this.
November 22, 200322 yr Hi Daniel,Yes it has something to do with high water settings.I already tried without AF and no improvement.thanks anyway - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
