Go to your FS9 folder and right click on the FS9.exe. In that menu, select Properties. At the top of the pop-up, click on Details and post what it says next to "File Version."

If I remember correctly if you have FSX installed I can mess up your FS9 registry or something like that. There is a fix you can download that fixes the problem. I think it is at Avsim. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but it's been a very long time since I had this problem and I can't remember the details. Hopefully I was able to get you headed in the right direction to fix this problem.

Based on your pic, although you claim to have the 9.1 update, your computer does not, in fact, have the update. Run the 9.1 update tool as an administrator and that should get you up to 9.1.

I think that is the problem that is created when you install FSX. It makes programs think you don't have FS 9.1 when you actually do.

That may be the case sometimes, but by showing the properties of the FS9.exe, it's displaying the properties of that file, not what every other program thinks is the case. In this case here, the properties display clearly shows 9.0 as linked above.

You might try the registry fix found here. http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=libraryI seem to recall getting the same message you are getting. After running the fix I was able to install the MD-11. I didnt check to see which version FS9 said it was when I had the problem so I can't say for sure.

For fear of being kicked here for mentioning it, I can guess you are using a modified FS9.exe. If indeed you have updated FS9 to version 9.1, but you don't wish to have CD4 in the CD/DVD drive the entire time and use a modified file for that purpose, you need a modified file that reflects the version number correctly. I am not going to tell you where you may find that. That is up to you to find out...Luckily, FSX removed this nonsensical affair of requiring the DVD to be in your drive in order for the software to run... then again, it brought activation instead ;)I do not condone or support the use of illegal copies of any software for the record. I am just noting the behaviour of the installer as to be similar to that when the fs9.exe is modified to allow FS9 to start without CD4 being present in the drive.Andrew

Ok first I'm am using legal unmodified copies of both FS9 and FSX. I'm going to try explaining this one more time. For some users that have Legal copies of FS9 installed that later install legal copies of FSX, the FSX installation messes up the registry for FS9 and causes some installers to think you do not have version 9.1 even though you do. That is why there is a fix on the Flight 1 website. Flight 1 does not condone illegal copies any more than you do. I am suggesting you try that fix in case that is the reason for the problem you are having.
