April 5, 201115 yr Hey Gang,Would someone that has UTX snap a screenshot of the port area south of KGPT - Gulfport MS? I'm curious to see what UTX does to improve the residential area that should be a port in FSX.Thanks,Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 5, 201115 yr Moderator Hi Ray,This is what it looks like on my rig with UTX, GEX and REX. Not sure what FXX is, unless you meant FTX as in the ORBX products, but they dont cover this area yet.As you can see, UTX adds a better coastline and waterclass, but they missed the textures for the actuall shipping area. Still, a lot better than default. Also it looks like in your pic the shipping cranes are in the water, in mine they are actually on the land. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

I always get disappointed with photo realistic scenery as they're resolution and quality drops when you get closer to the ground. They face that they are just textures tends to get a lot more noticeable. Derek RogersPC Specs: Intel i7-4790K 4.6GHz : 16GB RAM : GTX 970 4GB

I wish ORBX would get interested in the Gulf Coast. My first Photorealistic scenery was the MegaSceneryX for Hawaii and I was quite disappointed in the 'flatness' of the landscape. I keep seekiing better stuff and found some free scenery someplace and they seem to co-exist for some improvement over the default. The free stuff had an aircraft carrier with a civilian twin burning on the deck, duh? Not very realistic, but the smoke makes a good navigational checkpoint. Thanks again.Ray When Pigs Fly . FXX was intended as a future something. Seems like everyone wants to stick with 3 characters ending in X. I think your water color is a big improvement over the default "Maui" look for the gulf coast. Do you think the water color is from REX or UTX? I have REX but haven't got around to coloring the water, if I really can.Yes, the two crames are in the water in default FSX. Check out the screenshots.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
April 6, 201115 yr Moderator Do you think the water color is from REX or UTX? I have REX but haven't got around to coloring the water, if I really can.The water color is due to the waterclass that UTX provides for that area, not so much the REX water. I do have REX water installed, but even if I didn't UTX would still call for the darker default FSX water.Yes, the two crames are in the water in default FSX. Check out the screenshots. In my pic, the cranes are in the correct spot, on the land. UTX corrects the misaligned coastlines and it also does some other object repositioning throughout the entire US. In the latest version of UTX, they also repostion some airports as well, but you need to make sure that the few Afcads they include aren't duplicates of any other active afcad your currently running.Overall, I would day that UTX is one of those must haves for FSX, along with GEX and REX. UTX, GEX and REX do add a lot of visuals and corrections to the basic FSX. I spend a lot of time flying in the Orbx PNW and in the islands with the PWSceneries. They seem to put it all together very well. Thanks for taking the time to make the screenshot and your explanations.Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
