Saitek Combat Pedals

Featured Replies

Hello out there is "Sim-land." I need a spot of help. If anyone has the Saitek combat pedals I need a dimension. If you look at the pedals from a top-down viewpoint, what is the distance (in inches please) between the flat spot between the two front projections and the back of the pedal base. I need this for a particular installation. Thanks so much.Frank

G'day Frank,I grabbed the PDF Bjorn linked, scanned it into my signage program & measured the distance you are after (as attached). As I have a set of these I will confirm this when I get home tonight.Cheers,Ross

The drawing is not to scale however, but probably close enough, should be interesting to see your measurements, Ross. :-)B

Hi Bjorn,Scale was reasonably close so there shouldn't be too much of a difference. That's why I will confirm from the real deal though :-).

Cool, sure Frank will appreciate it. How are the combat pedals? I got the civillian ones.B

Hi Bjorn,I like them (posted re this previously). I had the civilian ones which I have passed on to my son now. One of the main differences I like is that with these your feet don't sit in them but as per real life pedals I have used your heels sit on the floor (base in this case). This helps when holding a balanced turn as you can rest your heel on the base & "lock" it making it much easier to keep the "ball in the centre". Also the damping seems better than the older style so I have been able to stiffen them up more which to me is also more realistic. Only problem I have is when I lift my feet off the floor & hit the toe brakes as I did in real life the pedals tend to tilt forward sometimes. Have had to adjust my technique a little to compensate for this. I can use the brakes without lifting my feet so this is not necessary, just a habit from real life flying - mainly when stopping the wheels from spinning prior to retraction & checking pressure on downwind leg checks. As a section of the base plate & the pedals themselves are metal this adds weight & gives a more robust feel to them too.Overall I believe these are much better than the older ones. I don't regret changing even though my other set were still fine after years of use.

Thanks, Ross. I'll definitely concider doing the same, though my son is only five months old. But never too soon tostart a good hobby, he's already crazy about the buttons on my yoke and stick  Got a heel rest thing going on the civillian pedals, but the benefits of the new version are persuasive.B
