April 17, 201115 yr Hello, im hoping to be one of the first customers to get the 737NGX however i have a question. Will the boxed version be released later than the download? If so (based on previous products) by how long? Also as a UK resident how long will it take to deliver. Lastly upon launch will the product be availible for purchase through Amazon? April 17, 201115 yr Yes, the boxed version will be released later than the download. If you want to be one of the first customers, you'll need to buy the download version directly from PMDG. As for how long, I think it normally takes a few months because they like to get all the patches and any fixes needed into the boxed version. No clue on how long it will take to deliver or if it'll be available on amazon at launch. Here's a post from Robert from a few weeks ago: Traditionally our process has been to hold off on doing retail box CDs for 6-8 months as this gives us the time we need to work up any and all fixes that we might discover are needed or wanted...Once we hit about 3+ months post release, we'll start the planning process with Aerosoft... Until then, any release date information you find regarding CDs is purely conjecture.

April 17, 201115 yr Get the download version and then create a back-up of it on a CD. Just the same as the boxed version... pretty much. Matthew Bellette

April 18, 201115 yr Author Does PMDG do anything about this though? I have a better connection than what Gee may be suggesting but for something as expensive as this will most likely be will there be an online backup? April 18, 201115 yr Commercial Member You can purchase extended download service, but why not just burn it to a CD on your own? I don't understand why people will pay more for stuff you already have at your own disposal. External hard drives, CDs, USB Drives - they're all data backup options that most people already have, yet most somehow don't think of it, or would rather pay to have someone else do it.As mentioned above, boxed versions are essentially for the internet-purchase-phobes, or to have a nice box. It's the same exact thing you would've gotten on day one, just on a CD you could easily create yourself, without the cool graphics, unless you want to spend time on that (and chances are, they don't hire a great graphics designer to make the cover art, either). April 18, 201115 yr Author No i did not mean for long term backup, just for the initial download incase something iinterupted the process or it did not get backed up properly. I have an external hard drive which i already use for my Airbus X backup but i still prefer CD's. In this case i will download.
