Error on startup

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Today I got the parts for my SB upgrade. So I started and did it. I have successfully changed the MOBO, the CPU and the RAM and also the POST works. Then I get the windows loading screen and the startup fails. Windows tells me :Error 0xc000000e: Error on startup. No access to necessary parts. I think this is related to my HDD. Could it be a problem that I attacched my 3 GB/s HDD to a 6GB/s plug or are they backwards compatible?Guys, I need some help, I´m desperate!

Best regards, Steffen

Appears your C:/ or active partition is not active or corrupted. I would run the repair option for Windows and it will check for this. Also check the BIOS to make sure all your hardware can be "seen".Best regards,Jim

Well, I have a 1TB HDD with 2 partititions: C./ for windows and D:/ for all other things. I just checked the BIOS (Looks nice btw.). Everything is listened and the HDD is on top of the booting priority.

Sometimes ppl have issues if the hard drive controlers differ if you do a mb swithout without re-install the op system....maybe ways around, but I have no idea...

Partitioned HDDs are a bad idea if used for FSX (Says NickN) because you risk doubling your average seek time.Cheers,- jahman.

This might be so but I can´t effort more.So far I had no luck bringing it to life. I could boot from disk, but all system recovery tools failed due to unknown reasons to me.

can you boot in safe mode?

Did you reinstall Windows after upgrading your hardware or did you try to start your old windows without a reformat of your OS-disk and complete install of windows? If you didn't perform a complete reinstall of windows I guess the chance of running into severe problems is quite big. EDITED: I read this thread about your upgrade plans: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/332936-how-to-upgrade/ and now I wonder what advice did you follow?

There's no need to reinstall, just run the boot repair from the Win 7 instalation CD

Boot repair should be enough. Actually not even boot repair should be needed.Short of formatting the disk, did you try disabling AHCI? This shouldn't be an issue with W7, but that's my thought...Otherwise no real ideas, it should simply work if everything's OK.And I hope you did NOT connect it to Marvell ports (the highest ones), but rather to any of Intel's ports.

Is it really that simple? I don't have any experience of running a Windows Repair with Win7 but with older Windows versions that would result in a complete rebuild of Windows Registry, which would need a reinstall of all software, except Windows, on the system.I'm still on Vista on my system, but if a Windows Repair with Win7 will keep all installed software runable I for sure would migrate to Win7. But if not I would prefer to reformat and reinstall Windows and all software to make sure that I have clean and lean system.

You don't need anything with W7. W7 is boot and leave. The source of the problem is surely something else...If it's boot repair, I in advance apologize.

Yeah, I have swapped motherboard twice: from AM3 to P55 and the to P67. Not a problem with Win 7. That 0xc000000e error is a boot manager thing. A simple Windows boot repair should fix it

True, I just googled it. I apologize.

Well, at first I attached it ti the marvel ports and got the error. Than to a normal Intel port. Still got ther error. Then I tried save mode. Same error here. After some trying I got it booting from CD and it tested the W7 installation for any failures and also found some but they couldn´t be repaired with the repair system. Now I´ve given up. This morning I brought it to my local hardware store and they´ll repair it for me. Still no clue what causes this. I wonder whether it makes any difference that my HDD was in IDE mode (at least I think) on the old MOBO and now it seems to be in ACHI mode.Btw. the store guy said that this is highly normal that after an MB swap windows won´t boot. This is mostly so.

Best regards, Steffen
