Please excuse the very basic question......

Featured Replies

I did look through this forum and through the FAQ's on the FS2Crew website. I also watched the cool video. Again, please excuse the very basic question of what does this really do?Is this merely an audible checklist and as pilot I still need to flip the switches, turn the knobs etc? OrIs this an audible checklist and the virtual FO handles the switch flipping and knob turning? Is it neither? Is it both? Thank you in advance for assisting me again with what I know is a very basic question.Jerry

Hi JerryFS2Crew is far more than just a checklist. The Co-Pilot handles most of the pre-flight and functions required to get the aircraft to the taxi state from 'Cold & Dark' start. You will still need to programme the FMC, set up the auto-pilot start the APU and align the IRS as well as a few other functions. Your primary task is to manage the process with commands & requests as well as do the fun bits such as the Takeoff (if you want) , landings and of course request a cup of coffee during the flight.Myself along with others would just about wager a bet that after using FS2Crew you will never want to fly an addon aircraft again which doesn't have one of Bryans ' fine creations.I highly recommend you giving it a go!Regards Daveps .... just keep asking the questions ... this is a friendly forum.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate the info you provided. Sounds interesting. No conflicts with VATSIM with the audio version? And is that truly the way to go for the full immersion??? I'm somewhat ashamed to admit this. But I've been flying computer sims since the early to mid 80's (started on the Commodore 64) but have almost always just flown either default aircraft or freeware models (which are more or less based on default a/c). Just sit down and CTRL E, Shift P and down the taxi way I go. So since I've dated myself a bit. In recent years I've wanted to take the hobby to the next level. I really have no desire to learn to fly in real life, I consider myself a professional traveler as I know when to take my shoes off and when to put them back on and do travel a lot from time to time. But I've wanted to fly more complex aircraft. I recently purchased the iFly 737NG FSX model and truly love it. While I don't mind flipping all the switches and such myself...sometimes it would be nice to have some help. So it sounds like this software is truly designed to be that second pair of hands. Jerry

Hi JerryI can't answer the Vatsim question as I don't use this. Its fantastic for full immersion (you deal with the F/O, cabin crew, ground and engineering), it actually adds reality to your simulator experience. The beauty of FS2Crew is that it actually assists and helps you to master the complex addon aircraft that are available nowdays. I actually have limited time nowdays to learn all the functions of these complex aircraft so FS2Crew substantially lowers the learning curve. The ironic thing is that it actually makes flying more realistic because of this as with any modern flight deck there are shared responsibilities.I would certainly recommend the voice versions of FS2Crew as they are the latest technology. Maybe try the new i-Fly 737 with FS2Crew Voice Commander as it has the lowest learning curve.Regards Dave

Dave,I'd recommend the "Combo" version of FS2Crew for the iFly 737NG.That way you can try both: Button Control and Voice Control. You can see which style you like most.Cheers,
