May 23, 201115 yr Hey guys,I was having a flight from egll to lfpg when rc said something about saturated traffic at de gaulle and started turning me back over the English channel :( i canceled the flight as i was nearly back at heathrow and has kept doing the same ever since.Any ideas guys? May 23, 201115 yr HiIt sounds as if you may have had "holding" enabled in your basic options. You could always have declared an emergency I suppose. It's all in there somewhere!
May 23, 201115 yr Author Hi mate, i do have weather holding on but the weather has always been good! Chris Howard

I'll try again and after that will make a logP.S, Hows RCV5 coming along :( Chris Howard
May 24, 201115 yr Please read starting at page 50 in the RC43 User Manual explanations of two different holding types plus off. Note that for weather holding you can get holding in good landing weather conditions as defined by ceiling, visibility, and number of runways. Do you have holding turned on (not weather holding)? The RC statement concerning traffic would apply I think to both types of holding. With this statement I don't think you are getting delay vectors due to your crossing restriction being missed at about 40 nm out. With either holding occurring you will get a menu option to declare minimum fuel if RC does not clear you out of it in time. With delay vectors for missing a crossing restriction you will not get that option but will continue getting delayed forever until at the appropriate altitude as feet or flight level depending on the airport transition altitude. You would not get the statement about traffic congestion with a missed crossing restriction to my knowledge. If you are flying an FMC type aircraft such as the Boeing 737 series you can put a 40 nm range ring around your airport and watch your altitude trend arcs to adjust your descent so you'll be at the crossing restriction 40 nm out. For the Boeing FMC go to the fix page and enter your airport ICAO code via the scratch pad. For the bearing/distance just enter /40 via the scratchpad and EXE it. On the navigation display you will now have a dashed circle around the airport at 40 nm out that indicates when you must be at crossing restriction altitude. If you don't have that feature and there is a VOR/DME or TACAN on the airport you can use one of your DME receivers or navigation display read-out to estimate that crossing. ILS/DME would not be received at that distance.
