Is something broken?Make sure you changed the setting in nVidiaInspector's FSX profile and not the global. Been there, done that. More than once. :)If you're in windowed mode, ForceWindowedVSync=1 must be set in the fsx.cfg file's [GRAPHICS] section for VSync to work. May 31, 201115 yr Author :o 150+fps and you'r asking if something is broken................:Black Eye: you "wanna" trade rigs.....Well yeah but this is unlimited fps over farm country LOL! I just threw out a quick number to prove it was greater than my refresh rate of 60.Make sure you changed the setting in nVidiaInspector's FSX profile and not the global. Been there, done that. More than once. :)If you're in windowed mode, ForceWindowedVSync=1 must be set in the fsx.cfg file's [GRAPHICS] section for VSync to work. Thanks Bob, I do run windowed mode. Also, while we're on the subject, what do people think of vsync? It obviously clears up the tearing issues I get (they don't bother me too much). But with it off I get far more fps when unlimited within FSX. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
May 31, 201115 yr Thanks Bob, I do run windowed mode. Also, while we're on the subject, what do people think of vsync? It obviously clears up the tearing issues I get (they don't bother me too much). But with it off I get far more fps when unlimited within FSX.Well first, having frame rates above the monitor's vertical refresh rate (60 Hz for most LCD monitors) serves no purpose--the monitor simply can't draw frames faster than its vert refresh rate. I highly recommend use of a frame rate limiter if you're seeing frame rates much above 60.In windowed mode, because there is no double-buffering of the frame buffer like in full-screen mode, operating with VSync on will step your rate down to the next-lower value of the monitor's refresh rate divided by an integer. That means if you're getting 31-59 fps without VSync, turning it on will drop you to 30 fps, or if you're getting 21-29 fps, it'll drop you to 20. And if your rate is wavering around one of the integer-divisible breakpoints (60, 30, 20, 15, 12, 10 etc) the rate flip-flopping from one VSync-constrained step to the other can cause stutter. Last, the tearing seen without VSync is mostly apparent when the view is panned rapidly. So for users that spend their sim lives in the VC, the tearing seen while regularly panning around the flight deck can be maddening. For a 2D panel user, it'll probably only be apparent while taxiing around scenery, and maybe a little bit during turns, but it's likely to be a much less distracting phenomena. June 1, 201115 yr Author Yeah I really liked the external limiter but it seemed to be causing my G3D.dll CTD's more frequently than with it disabled. Thanks for the info! | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
