Random Startup Freezes

Featured Replies

Hi guys, hopefully someone could help me, basically the title says it all. About 1 in 5 power ons results in a freeze at the Windows 7 logo screen during bootup, it's strange and completely random? Anyone else have this issue? To fix it, I have to hold the power button down for a while until the computer shuts off, then I'll just select "start windows normally" and most of the time it will boot right up.Thanks

Jeff

My first suggestion would be to set your OC back to default and if it stops then it is something to do with your OC.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Advanced-startup-options-including-safe-modetry the boot logging option and see if you can determine what driver might be freezing the start up.Another option is to disable all startup items using MSCONFIG and then start adding them back individually until you can repeat the freeze.Vic
