I believe I spoke with 1 or 2 of you around here who said they were waiting for this board. I found it here and immediately ordered it! I was unable to find any currently active promo codes, but I suppose $250 is a fair price.

I'm not really familiar with ASRock's offerings.

OK, I was leaning towards the ASRock Z68 Extreme 4 as it was recommended by Toms.

What is the advantage of this board of the ASRock offering ?
What is the advantage over a few months old Gigabyte P67A-UD5-B2?I'm aware of the difference between the two but just curious why you switch to the Z68?Just at the point to go sandy bridge to that's why...

I returned my UD5 a few weeks ago and figured I might as well get the latest. The Z68 chipset is able to take advantage of the onboard GPU for faster video encoding. I don't do a whole lot of video encoding, but why not have that functionality available for when I do?! Perhaps the primary reason is that I'm hoping some of the quirks from the P67 chipset will be worked out. Sandy Bridge mobos have been extremely finicky with memory compatibility in general. I have no confirmation whether or not this or any other minor issues have been fixed with Z68. I'm surprised by how few reports have been done regarding Z68.So it looks like I get to be an early adopter once again. I'll be sure to let everyone know if there's any improvements.

Thanks for the reply appreciated but with your 250 isn't encoding done via that one instead from the onboard GPU?What are your temps or better where your temps under full load on that 2600K chip? Thanks,

The Intel HD 3000 on the 2500k and 2600k is actually much better at video encoding than any discrete GPU. I can't remember what my temps were before, but I'll test them when I get the system together this weekend or early next week.

Maybe I'll go with Asus next time (or when I RMA my GB board lol)I had an Asus A8n32 Deluxe for my ancient AMD3700. Ahhh what a nice board!
