June 7, 201114 yr How do you disable the V key in FSX? I can't fly anywhere without taking at least 20 screenshots and my hardrive is filling up! Does anyone else have this addiction?
June 7, 201114 yr <G>That would be me. I set a goal for myself to fly around the world, visiting as many airports as I can and I take a bunch of screenshots of each flight. I make it a point to check out the scenery around the airport as well, so this way I have a record of how things looked when I was there, including what the weather looked like. With the discussions in the Flight forum, I just went back to check my old screenshots from October 2006 and I have some showing 8 fps around Niagara Falls and the area looks like a desert. So, I suggest you keep taking those screenshots and just get an external USB drive to store them on. :)

Does anyone else have this addiction?FSX saves images as .bmp which are the full-resolution type. Most images are better saved as .jpg style for space reasons. Disable the screenshot assignment and use an add-on screen capture utility that allows you to select the format, compression, and location of screenshots. Then CULL them occasionally... keep only the best.V key assignment in settings>controls>buttons-keys>capture screenshot: select and remove key assignment.Loyd Hooked since FS4... now flying: FSX Acceleration on Win7/64, Core Duo E8400; GA-EP45-DS3R; GTX 460-768MB; 4G RAM; Freezer 7 Pro
June 8, 201114 yr Or, you could keep the V key and still create images in bmp format. But you could use a batch tool to convert the bmps to jpgs to save space. I just don't know of any batch convert app or tool that does that simple task for hundreds of bmps, but I'm sure there is one out there.Anyone know of one? When I submit screenshots on forums, I have to open each bmp individually and convert, which is very annoying for a simple task like a file conversion. A.J. Domingo

June 8, 201114 yr Convert to PNG first for keeping since it's lossless, then if you want to post even smaller images use JPG.
