June 8, 201115 yr Hi there,This is my very first post here,I have a few aircraft that I want to change the external camera views in the aircraft.cfg, currently each time I load the aircraft I have to move the extrnal cameras to suit, annoying.I know you can change the camera definitions in the aircraft.cfg so the external views stay where I set them.Is there software which will allow me to capture the camera definition coordinates from the custom external views I have just created with the cameras in the positions I want for the external views? Many help would be greatly apreciated.Cheers

June 9, 201115 yr Here is the documentation on how the cameras work:http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526984.aspx(you can just substitute FSX for ESP as a rule in this documentation)You might also check out freeware FSRecorder, which has an ability to add cameras (IIRC not aircraft-specific though).scott s..
June 9, 201115 yr Author This is what you need: http://www.flight1.c...oduct=ezdockcam Many thanks for this, so this proggy will allow me to save the new definitions and replace the existing ones in aircraft.cfg?Cheers for that
June 9, 201115 yr Many thanks for this, so this proggy will allow me to save the new definitions and replace the existing ones in aircraft.cfg?Cheers for thatIt actually works outside of the FSX camera system so it provides a lot more flexibility. Watch some of the videos to get an idea of what it can do. The effects can be turned off or edited. For each aircraft, you can set up internal vc cameras, cabin views, wing views, nose gear views... basically any view you can think of. They will all be there every time you hop in that specific aircraft. You can even edit views on the fly. For most of my aircraft, I have the following views:VCLeft SeatRight SeatOverheadTQPanel ZoomSome have cabin views if they are availableExternalPassenger wing views (Most wing views in FSX are considered external views)Other external views like tail cam, gear cam...A couple things:1. The camera views are accessed with keyboard commands like Shift+a. You can chose the command. I use a game pad for all my views and similar views all have the same command - ex left seat view is the same key for every aircraft.2. The learning curve is a little steep at first but once you get through a couple aircraft, the rest will be a piece of cake. You can copy views from one aircraft to another so you only have to make minor adjustments. Still, plan on spending some time getting it going. I can't think of anyone that bought it and figured out how to use it properly that doesn't love it. It does come with cameras already set up for the default aircraft.BTW, I did create a few wing views before EZDok was released. Editing the FSX camera is much harder and much more time consuming than EZDok. When you want to edit things, you open it up and make changes. It does have a process that runs in the background but it starts automatically when you start FS. Once you get the views set up, you really don't think about it anymmore and it really doesn't take up a lot of resources. June 9, 201115 yr It is at Flight 1 so you can get your money back within 30 days if you don't like it. Just don't get discourgaed when trying to figure it out. I think some returned it early on without giving it a chance. Read their forums because the manual isn't very detailed. June 9, 201115 yr One of the FSX SDKs covers Camera Views .They tend not to speak in plain and clear English in the SDKs and it can be difficult understanding their instructions. If you have previously edited the aircraft cfg with notepad , such as adding repaints then you should be able to addCamera views. The process will require a little work and some trials to get the Camera Views that you really want.STEPS:-1. Copy and store your existing " aircraft cfg " as an insurance in case a mistake is made or you would prefer to revert back to the original state later on. Backup is VERY IMPORTANT.2. Fly various aircraft that have Camera Views , hit pause in a View , then take notes of, aircraft name, Camera view text displayed at top right of screen , then observe and note the view distances from what you guess to be aircrafts centre , these will be feet or meters left/ right , above/below, front/rear. For each of the above try to guess the angles , ie, 7 degrees down , rear view 180 degrees , etc.3. Open the aircraft cfg that has the views that you like.4. Very carefully note where the Camera Views are located in that aircrafts "aircraft cfg" , note specifically the section preceeding the Camera Views because that will be the equivalent area that you will later paste into "your aircraft cfg "your new Camera Views. 5. Now carefully highlight the desired camera views and copy them.6. Go to your "aircraft cfg" and paste them in the equivalent location.7. Important :- each Camera View has a number in square brackets after it . It MUST be sequentially numbered as follows, 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , ........ for each Camera View listing. The "0" view is the one that appears in the normal sim Views when cycled , the others are accessed by clicking the letter "A" on your keyboard.8. Take some time to examine and become a little familiar with the aircraft cfg containing the views that you require , notice where the camera view are located and the elements of the individual camera view section.9. Line 1, Camera View and sequence number. Line 2, the description that appears top right of screen, you can change that to your own title name if you want. Further down you will find ..... INITIALXYZ followed by three numbers , they represent the distance that the camera is displaced from the aircrafts centre. INITIALPBH followed by 3 numbers, they represent angles in degrees of the views. These two lines can be changed by trial and error to get specific views that you are after, if you change them keep notes of before and after , only tackle these changes if you are patient and willing to put in the time and effort to get results.10. If it does not work out for you , then revert to your stored backup aircraft cfg.11. Proceed slowly and carefully.12. When selecting desirable views , do not use views from a small aircraft on a large aircraft as the distances in INITIALXYZ line will not be suitable.13. Try to find an aircraft with a few Camera Views , when I did the F-111 PIG HUD package ( fxpiggb5.zip ) I included 10 Camera views in its aircraft cfg , so the number varies from aircraft to aircraft.Hope the above is of some help.CheersKarol
