Okay, I'm new to this and I'm pulling my hair out. I have the GF TQ6 throttle quadrant and the Saitek pedals. I was told that the GF config software would set up the throttle levers for the type of plane being flown and to remove all "JoyStick" assignments in FSX as this would conflict with GF config. Well I did this and sometimes they don't work and I end up setting the levers in FSX -- which is a pain (in the GF config software you can save various configurations). On the pedals sometimes the toe brakes are reversed. I sat on the tarmac for about a minute trying to figure out why the darned plane wouldn't move even at full throttle 'til I happened to push on the pedals which released the to brakes.Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?ThanksAlan

OK, there are a couple of problems here. One is that the GFConfig software does not actually set the axis or sensitivity for your throttles. I check setup of the throttle unit in two places - one in the Windows Control panel and one inside flightsim. You could use FSUIPC for setup but that is more complicated. Even if you're not flying a 4-engine aircraft, map each throttle to an engine. That way you can use the unit to control throttles on most any aircraft with 4 or less engines.Regarding pedals - I don't have Saitek pedals but most of the units I've tried have the same issues. Braking action is often reversed along with rudder control. You just have to try your setup to see which it is. From my experience, brake action is very sensitive if you don't have your setup configured properly. Often you will just have to try various settings to see which one works the best.THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - Make sure you use a POWERED USB hub. That means the hub is plugged into an AC outlet. While you can use USB devices plugged directly into a PC for power, I do not recommend it. They'll never work properly. Also, make sure the USB connections (data) are plugged in solidly. I have a huge number of USB devices and it never fails that I find the USB cable is loose.I hope this helps.fb

fbThanks for the reply. So you do not use the GF config to allocate throttles etc? Setting it up inside FSX is a little laborious compared with GF as in GF you can save the configurations. I have just purchased FSUIPC so maybe that is the best way to go. If I use that do I have remove all joystick associations in FSX? I always use powered hubs by the way.ThanksAlan

HelloYou will have much better success using Fsuipc. The best way would be to turn off the controllers in FSX and use Fsuipc exclusively. You will be able to set up the throttle and all your other hardware with separate profiles for each type of aircraft or even for each individual aircraft if you want. These profiles will be loaded automatically with the relevant aircraft without any intervention from yourself, Axis assignments, button programming, keypresses ect.The documentation is very good and you would be advised to give it a good read through.

I have wiped my FSX.cfg clean of any and all assignments and only use FSUIPC4 to assign and calibrate all axis, controls, buttons, switches, etc. and have never looked back! Plus you get you customize assignments per aircraft type which is a bug plus.Cheers, -jahman.

I did remove all Joystick assignments in FSX and set up my TQ6 in FSUIPC and they work just fine. I did try setting up my VRI yoke but that didn't work -- do I have to click on SEND TO FSUIPC CALIBRATION as opposed to SEND TO FSUIPC DIRECT? Also how did you remove the setting for throttle etc in FSX.cfg? I unchecked the USE THIS DEVICE in the FSX Controls window for my TQ6 and it didn't work even though it was set up in FSUIPC.ThanksAlan

HelloI click on Send to Fsuipc calibration then rescan, move the axis then choose the function from the dropdown list.

Download the FSUIPC Documentation. Check the FSUIPC User Manual, "Appendix: Axis assignment in FSUIPC4" on page 57. As I said before, make sure you clear all your axis assignments in your FSX.cfg file (via FSX menu bar, options, controls, scroll down, select assigned axis and then click the "Remove Axis Assignment" button (button name is approximate as I am going from memory). Repeat for all assigned axes. Repeat for all hardware controls via seletgin the proper tab at the top of the dialog box.Cheers,- jahman.
