Installation of RC for FSX

Featured Replies

Hi John and the rest. Long time has passed since i had to ask you question last..But i have finally got a new computer big enough to handle FSX and i just want to verify that it's the CD RadarContact V4 which works with FSX? I also has to ask if RC has any problemswith Windows7? It has 64 bit - but obviously has no problems with 32 bit either - install the programs in a Program x.86 library. But if it likes all these thousands of small chatter files whichcomes with RC v4.... :()Best wishes Lars in Copenhagen

Check the version of RC on the CD or on your current version if still running. If it is below build 3843 you should get a new version by sending a download link request to [email protected] including your user name and e-mail address you used to order it and when you registered it.Install RC in a folder not under any program files folder. The first time you run the install right click on it and choose run as admin so it can access everything it needs. You will need a new key. If your user name and e-mail has changed you will need to send in manually an e-mail with the subject registration request to [email protected]. Include your original e-mail address and user name and the product key including any - . If you requested a download link jd has probably updated your entry in his user database and the automatic registration process should work. Create a shortcut to RC and set its advanced properties to run the program at admin level.Be sure jdtllc.com is allowed through your ISP and PC spam filters. After registration is complete and you have set up the shortcut to RC as advised update fsuipc4 and makerwys.exe per the instructions at the pinned topic in the forum head. The distribution versions in the RC packages are out of date. Once done after installing the new fsuipc4 and makerwys.exe start RC and rebuild your scenery database again. In Win 7 you probably should set the shortcut to FS in a similar manner to run as admin. If you have not installed FS yet it is recommended to not place it under any Program Files folder tree as this places extra protection on it that can get in the way of things.Today's interim version of FSUIPC4 is:FSUIPC4 update 4.712 FSUIPC 4.712----If you haven't already installed 4.70, get the full installer from http://www.schiratti.com/dowsonand for makerwys.exe:MakeRunways 4.46from the posted links at the forum top. Also be sure to read the pinned topic at the forum top about installing unregistered dlls and error 713. You will probably need to perform this in Win 7.

Hi RonGood to see you - long time since last :() Thank's for the answer - got the new FSUIPC and fortunately i could find the register key...The RC build i have is 3845, so it should be new enough. But two questions:1. Have anyone experienced any problems with the installation on a Windows 7 - 64 bit?2. I do have the entire Radar Contact 4 library - with sublibraries on a USB key. I'm just wondering if i could copy it down and avoid the installation? Or maybe it place something in the Windows-library?Really look forward to start using FSX on my new computer :()Have a great weekendLars

You can copy RC and its subfolders but you'll get a few errors. First it will ask for a new key since you are on a new system and probably reformatted the disk. Second you'll have to redefine your flt/wxr path. Third you may have to edit by hand one of the configuration files if you get an unrecoverable error on trying to open a flight plan as chances are your windows document folder has moved. In other words, not recommended. You will still have to install that latest makerwys in your FSX folder after RC is working and rebuild the scenery index again. The makerwys version prior to 4.41 will not get some scenery data correctly for RC use. The one on the CD is ancient.Don't forget that FSX must be installed and working before you install RC. The FSX scenery.cfg where the scenery folder locations are must exit and be current.BTW - I don't do Facebook :) . We'll talk about your name change privately later. (Humor.). Has the Copenhagen airport authority sent the ATC police after you?

OK Ron - i better use the CD. Since you don't mention it, i take it that there should be no problem with this version of Windows i have now.. After the installation, i hope it works just to copy the Winwood library - or whatever the name is, because i have a lot of ATC chatter files installed and don't have a clue where i found them as it's a couple of years ago. LOLRC itself, FSUIPC and Makerwys files are the newest, just downloaded and FSX is installed. Oh - of course i have placed this in the program library. Don't know if you mean it will be a problem in connection with RC. FSX itself seems to run without problems. Was a bit stressed when i installed it, as i had lost my reg.no. for FSX, but fortunately Microsoft could help me. :()There's actually a few of the old FSVC gang on Facebook, but i'm curious what you mean with name change, so drop me a line.. hahaha. And i don't have that much trouble with the ATC people - i'm just ignoring then if they annoys me.. hehehe.. Oh - AdvDisplay.dll vers. 2.14 is the newest i should think?CheersLars

Rename advdisp.dll to advdisp.dxx. It hasn't been used for a long time. There is a status area at the top of the RC/FSUIPC window that serves the same purpose and beats the green bar. Before updating FSUIPC run this free utility from flight1.com:FSX/FS9 Registry Repair Tool (36KB)http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library.FSUIPC uses these entries for install.I you have additions to the Winwood library just copy those folders in after the install just as you did before.RC should ask what versions you wish to install for. You can pick either or both if you have a dual FS installation. For a dual installation it will create an RC folder for each FS version. Just be sure you put the correct path to the version of FS that the specific folder is designed for when rebuilding the scenery. Be sure for a dual installation you have a clearly named shortcut for each RC within each folder.(Your handle here LarsChristian confused me. I recall It as LarsKluver001 or similar.)

It's more than one year ago i used FSX last, Ron - way more, so i can't really remember all details. I know there was a "new advdisp-window", but thought it was a newer versionof that, but it's not - and something different. Anyway, i haven't installed it yet. Haven't installed any versions of FSUIPC yet either, so the correct version will be the first on this PC -so nothing have been "messed up" in the registry. That was what you meant - it's a long time since i've been in here and can't recall my login and password for that matter, so i created a new user. My full name is Lars ChristianFriedrich Klüver, so it's not that i'm in here incognito.. LOL

Just wrote John. The RCV4.exe (version 4.03.3845) i have on my old computer is from February 2nd, 2007. The RCV4.exe installation file i have on my CD is from the end of May 2005. Must have got something newer from John... ?? Good thing you mentioned that earlier, before i started... :()

Hi Lars,Just to offer you some reassurance,RC4.3 works well on Win7 64 bit but you must get the latest versions of Makerways anf FSUIPC.I have flown many flights with FSX and have not had any problems at all.Norman

Burn the current install download after you get it to CD so you have a backup! When you make that backup include a text file copy of your new registration key on it after you get it.Do the install. Then update FSUIPC and Makerwys.exe. The FSUIPC upgrades have lots to do with working in Win 7 -32/64. The makerwys update has to do with corrections in how scenery priority is handled for RC airport data.If you browse this forum you'll see a number of problems that were resolved by updating FSUIPC and makerwys.exe and then rebuilding the scenery database again. Such issues had to do with ground holding for AI and user aircraft in several situations because the RC scenery database did not match the installed scenery.

Got a link from John and downloaded almost 700 mb of data, so now i have the newest version of RCV. It's installed (as an administrator) and i've made a CD too.Now i'm just going through the usual problems when i'm going to have the key from John. It's said to last about 15 min. to get it, but every time it results in some communication back and forth before it succeeds. I don't know why. Hope it won't last too long ... :()Won't be looking for problemsolving before i know if i have any problems. I probably will get stressed otherwise.. hehe

Did you get the e-mail return with your key? When you paste the key into the RC dialog be sure you delete any extra spaces at the end of the line.I don't understand what you are talking about in this back and forth statement. Does RC start or does it just go back into the registration dialog.

No - i haven't got it yet. I just receive a message - i first thought was from John, but i think it's a machine.I have been forwarding it more than once - making sure avoiding any extra spaces. Except for my first attempt, i have thereafter used only my Hotmail account, which i have used in the past, but this message i get just goes on:I am unable to find your email address in my records, and cannot process your key request Please request your key with an email from the same email address you used when you purchased Radar Contact If you have a new email address, please send your updates to: [email protected] Do no reply to this email I'm starting to get a bit p***ed that it has to be such a cirkus to get a new key. I have had to order new keys from other shareware-dealers withoug that problem - and even Microsoft is faster giving one a new key, when i lost mine for FSX. But - maybe it solves itself when John appears? I took it to be him writing the above message, but i more and more understand it's a machine bouuncing back a default message...Lars

The automatic registration is a machine if you send it to [email protected]. You cant use that but must create a custom message sent to [email protected]. In the subject line put in New Key - e-mail changed. Then provide all of the details including your old e-mail address, user name on file for your original registration, and your new product ID including any - . I assume your registered name is Lars Kluver.jd may not be available right now. I'll send him a note. Also post the information here except for your current e-mail address.
