737 NGX Weather Radar

Featured Replies

Hey everybody, sorry for my englishHere i'm going to ask to PMDG why they don't create or just integrate (RXP or CS) Weather Radars to their aircrafts, I mean they do everything, yeah, EVERYTHING as real as can be but they don't add a ''simple'' Weather Radar, that helps a lot who use to fly with realistic weather configuration, I mean, sync. to real world.PMDG, I just wanna know why you simulate somethings that are not so important and ''forget'' to simulate Weather Radars? Thanks, Luiz Cunha.

Luiz,It's simple: FSX does not model precipitation in a way that allows for an accurate representation of a weather radar. That said, the PMDG JS4100 does include space in the panel for the RXP WXR500. It looks nice, but don't believe anything you see on its screen.

The problem with the weather radars on the market is that they do not truly simulate real weather radar. They only report cloud location and not actual precipitation location - I am not an expert at the technical reasons but I do know that since PMDG cannot (no one can; it is an FSX limitation) simulate weather radar properly, they will not do it at all. Check Vin's post at the top of the page: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/335805-weather-radar/page__st__25Regards

Best regards, happy flying,

Are you sure?Cuz i have and FSX add-on that simulates really well the clouds and it haves the terrain simulation too.

Talk%20to%20the%20Hand.gifThis should just be locked or deleted because it has been beaten to death. The fact is that PMDG only simulates systems that can be accurately simulated, and FSX weather does not allow for accurate weather radar. All weather radars for FSX are and nothing more than eye candy.

Apologies in advance for this but here we go.Why, oh why, oh why, oh why do people keep on asking this question which has been answered dozens of times over the months on these forums by the developers and users alike. What don't you people get about this issue that you have to keep on asking???Rant over....sorry.

Best Regards,

Dan Parkin.

Yes. I'm sure.

That is the point, it only shows clouds, not precipitation, which is what real life weather radars tell the pilot. As I said earlier, it is an fsx limitation that prevents a true to life weather radar from being possible in-game.

This has been discussed/answered a million times here - not doing it again, sorry. Do a search.
