Save function for Fenix A320 is completely useless???
Thanks for suggesting, this is definitely what I'm looking for in practicing approaches! Also, I didn't realize panel state saving/loading in the PMDG 737 was so robust, that's great to know. If we have good panel loading for aircraft, I still do hope for a save/load feature in MSFS that allows you to not just load in-flight, but also allows you to update time and weather to your liking just in case the sim crashes. Hopefully one day they'll add this.

Save function for Fenix A320 is completely useless???
The lack of a serious save function remains the last must-have for me with this sim that is totally missing. I feel your pain. While I can't wait for the PMDG 777 to hit the market, I am legitimately worried that I'll have some random CTD in hour 12 of 16 on a long-haul, and have to start the whole thing over. In FSX I also frequently saved while descending in a high fidelity aircraft on an IFR flight so I could practice those approaches again, something that's still impossible in MSFS, sadly. CTDs are never fun and kill the immersion, but at least in FSX third party devs could panel state save and you could resume with real-time weather. Curious what others say, but once Asobo/other devs makes this possible, I will really have nothing to complain about with our gorgeous sim. 🙂

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcGreat. Thank you again for all your help! I'll probably just use the HD that I have listed though I could probably fit everything on an SSD. I don't think it will make such a huge difference that it's worth the extra 60-100$. Onwards with ordering!

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI'll keep that in mind! Thank you, much appreciated. If you guys seem to be pleased with the other stuff, I'll go ahead and order! Any other tips for commonly needed (and forgotten) cords and wires that I would have to order separately? Also, sorry if this a dumb question, but don't I need an optical drive?

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcOk, great! Last question (I hope). Do you have any particular z97 mobo you would recommend? I know asrock has some and asus, and others.

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThank you. I've never really been able to have much detail because my current (and past) rigs haven't been good enough to allow very much cloud/weather detail. With this one I hope to be able to have complex weather with complex addons like PMDG, FSDT, etc. Assuming I get the 770, a Z97 mobo, the 4690k and everything else I mentioned in the op, do you think the power unit that I have (850w) will be enough? Thanks again.

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcOk, thank you very much for the tips. I'm glad you guys pitched in, I would have had no idea on my own. So it looks like it will be the 4690k and either the 760 or the 770. Just to be sure, the 770 is a smart investment for the extra 100$ over the 760? Smart meaning I would notice the difference while playing FSX.

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
theshack440 replied to theshack440's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcThank you for your reply and your help. I am trying to keep the price down a little bit, and since the 770 is nearly double than the 660, do you think I would notice the difference in FSX? Also, do you think the 4790k is worth the extra $100 over the 4690k? thanks again.

Another Rig Suggestion Thread
Hi everyone. I'm a longtime FSXer and I have finally decided to take the leap into building my own rig for Flight Simming. I don't know that much about the individual components and the exact details in terms making the best choice for parts. My friend (another longtime simmer) has been helping me put together a list of parts to buy, but since he's out of the country at the moment (and also not completely an expert), I figured it would be best to ask the pros here at the Avsim forums. While I understand that FSX simply doesn't allow 40 fps after maxing out every slider, I am hoping this new rig will allow me to have good scenery settings, fly high quality aircraft (like the PMDG T7) into a high quality airport (with REX, for example) and still maintain smooth fps. Obviously this varies by airport, scenery, etc. so I really just want to know if these parts are compatible with one another, are a good idea, and if any are over/underkill. Ok so, here's what I'm thinking for a setup: i7 3770k EVGA GeForce GTX660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 ASRock Z77 Extreme4 MOBO CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 Western Digital WD Black 500GB 6.0Gb/s3.5 CORSAIR HX Series HX850 Powerunit Cooler Master Hyper 212 NZXT Phantom ATX Full Tower Computer Case (+ Windows 7) Right now this comes out to be around $1200, which is a little higher than my ideal budget of $1000, so if I can buy cheaper parts and get the same result, that would be great (for example, I understand that the CPU is key for building an FSX rig, and I am unsure if an i7 is worth the extra hundred $ over the i5 (3570k)). Anyway, if you're still reading this, thank you for your help and for your incredible expertise! Wallace

Livery Confirmation
Great to hear about the liveries. And I am nearly certain that the 300ER will follow in an expansion pack (like the 737-6/700), and then the 200ER after that.

Question for the Beta´s: How much passengers can the PMDG 777LR carry?
Interesting thread. I think it is important to point out though that the Boeing images of seating capacity provided indicate a 2-2 first class, and a 2-3-2 business class configuration. Most airlines these days that have a 3 class configuration have MANY fewer seats. Emirates (for example) operates a 3-class 77L and has 1-2-1 first class, a similar business class. Even DL's 77L's have a 1-2-1 BusinessElite seating config. ... My point being that that 301 pax figure may be slightly outdated. Still, I can see that it would be nice to have that ability in the menu to change it.

You have 52K of thrust? I have 220,000 pounds...
Luke, what kind of weather program do you use? Active Sky?

Thank you, and looking good! I see you're almost there on vataware. I'll definitely be duplicating that flight at some point

Thanks for the shots, Luke. It's really looking incredible, and congrats on making the beta team! Definitely happy for you! Also, you mention you want an upgrade to your system, what are your current specs (if you don't mind posting them)?

13JUL13 - Nifty little feature in the 777...
Ró, are you ever doing the JFK flight? I'm from the NYC area and am frequently out near JFK and whenever I look up and see one of the several daily EI flights, I can't help but hope that you're up there in the left seat.

What happened, PMDG?
Thanks for reposting Ryan, it's a great shot indeed! Glad us "#1ers" could see it. Hope the holiday was (aside from what happened last night...) great for all you guys at PMDG. Keep up the great work guys!

What happened, PMDG?
I'm glad to hear that. And thank you, I will.

What happened, PMDG?
As someone who missed the photo that was posted, I am outraged by the ongoing and seemingly unstoppable behavior of some of these individuals. Tom, you said it right--they only care for themselves, and have no regard for (or do not pay any attention to) previously stated facts. It is too often that posts in these (and many of AVSIM's other forums) are thrown off course and turned into an attack on the original poster or the developers that are being talked about. I like to think that as flight and flight sim enthusiasts, we are all here to celebrate that... but it is through this kind of behavior that I am constantly being proven wrong. Hopefully some day these people will show restrain. I mean, why would PMDG post an update when they are bombarded with comments like that immediately afterwards? ...

The new 777 Guessing game
Yes, but for the NGX, PMDG released a BA livery at release (I believe it was because PMDG are close to BAVirtual), so I think they will do the same for the 777, especially since BA are huge operators of the type (even though not the exact type)
