  1. Those seats look just like the old DL 77L/744 Delta One seats! Maybe I’m reading too far into it but if that’s the case this screenshot could also suggest -200LR as launch model. Exciting times ahead. Personally can’t wait for the 772 and 77W.
  2. A few weeks back I was about 5 miles out on final into KORD after a flight from Vancouver. When I disconnected the AP I also experienced a steep left bank that was unrecoverable. Tried reconnecting the AP but it didn't make a difference. I think Fenix is aware of these bugs and is working on it.
  3. Thanks for suggesting, this is definitely what I'm looking for in practicing approaches! Also, I didn't realize panel state saving/loading in the PMDG 737 was so robust, that's great to know. If we have good panel loading for aircraft, I still do hope for a save/load feature in MSFS that allows you to not just load in-flight, but also allows you to update time and weather to your liking just in case the sim crashes. Hopefully one day they'll add this.
  4. The lack of a serious save function remains the last must-have for me with this sim that is totally missing. I feel your pain. While I can't wait for the PMDG 777 to hit the market, I am legitimately worried that I'll have some random CTD in hour 12 of 16 on a long-haul, and have to start the whole thing over. In FSX I also frequently saved while descending in a high fidelity aircraft on an IFR flight so I could practice those approaches again, something that's still impossible in MSFS, sadly. CTDs are never fun and kill the immersion, but at least in FSX third party devs could panel state save and you could resume with real-time weather. Curious what others say, but once Asobo/other devs makes this possible, I will really have nothing to complain about with our gorgeous sim. 🙂
  5. This is a really good point that I don't think gets enough attention. I try to do airliner flights in one go but in my FSX days I always relied on saving just in case the game crashed. Risky business so far with the FBW 320 but given PMDG's budget and sway I really hope they're trying to solve for panel state saves and such for those who worry about a CTD or just want to come back and resume later. This will be especially important for the T7 and 74 whenever those drop!
  6. Great to hear it! Thanks for the update. I think I might turn settings down to High to keep airliners in the 25-30 range. I managed to find a brand new 5600X from Facebook marketplace the other week for retail price. Got lucky and did some research on the seller and it was totally cool and worked out great. Might recommend the same if you can't find stock to avoid scalping prices! Now I'm thinking of getting a <$80 mid-size case to make my build a bit more compact, but I'm nervous about airflow/cooling. Anyone have any thoughts on these with, say, a single extra fan on top of the ones included? 1. 7. You're so close! Looking forward to hearing about your experience, and that positive 3070 note is exciting for me!
  8. Good to know, makes me feel better about the 3060 myself. Even if everything is on high instead of ultra—at least when flying in/out of cities—I don't have a problem with that. Now just waiting on AMD to restock the 5600X... (guessing it'll be a while lol)
  9. Congrats, I'm excited for you to get the top-of-the-line — and good advice. Judging from benchmarks, it looks like the 3060 is not all that different from the 3070 when it comes to MSFS. Might just be a good holdover, and for $400 I don't really mind. It's been a tough year, might as well treat myself 🙂
  10. Congrats on getting one! Are you planning on flying at 1440 or 1080? I'm aiming for 1440 but not sure if the 3060 is going to cut it.
  11. Planning on running at 1440 and I recently got the 3060 Ti while it was in stock instead of a 3070. I haven't started using it yet but it sounds like it's a solid choice for 1440 — not incredible though — but should hold up 1080 very nicely if you do want to upgrade for some solid features but without spending too much in your case. Personally, if all of these cards were in stock I would get a 3070 or 3080, but that's a different story I suppose.
  12. Thanks for the tip. Haven't picked it up yet so could almost definitely return it. You're right about the DX12, something I hadn't considered. Thinking just go with the 3060 and just get a new card in 2-3 years, so long as the 3060 can run it at least decently. I'm not typically that impatient but with my old rig out of commission I might just rather have something pretty good now to at least start flying. I wish there were more simmers in the tech world writing these reviews. For 1440 the 3060 seems fine but I don't want to find out the hard way. You think the i9 is worth the extra $$ compared to the i7? Also note the monitor is 1440 — not sure if you're aiming for 4K with the 3090.
  13. Funny, I managed to get a 3060Ti when it went on sale last week, after getting too impatient to wait for a 3070 restock (to play at 1440p). Haven't picked it up yet but the mixed feelings about it in these forums are making me nervous haha.
  14. Hey everyone. Long time FSXer, finally making the switch to MSFS. Would love some advice. I’m building a new PC and wanted some expert opinions here on the Avsim boards. My goal is to be able to run FS2020 at 1440 in the 30-40 FPS range. I’ve purchased some components but still waiting on others. Here’s what my build is looking like: GPU: RTX 3060 Ti (already purchased) CPU: AMD 5600X or intel i7 10700k MOBO: GIGABYTE B550 AORUS ELITE RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 32GB (2 x 16GB) (already purchased) Storage: SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 1TB SSD (already purchased) Power Supply: CORSAIR RM850x 850W (already purchased) Monitor: Acer V277U 27" WQHD 2560 X 1440 IPS FreeSync Monitor I’ve got a case from an old build that I’m going to reuse and the monitor is not a final decision. Budget is in the $~1,500 - $2,000 USD range. My questions to this group are: What are your overall impressions of the build? Any red flags? Would you wait for restocks of the 5600X or just go ahead and buy an i7 10700k? Sounds like AMD is a better choice for the sim but curious your take. I know this isn't the exact right forum but do you think the 3060 Ti will do the trick compared to the 3070? Was planning on the 3070 but managed to get the 3060 Ti when it became on sale last week. From benchmarking it seems similar, although this article makes me nervous https://www.theverge.com/2020/12/1/21768294/nvidia-rtx-3060-ti-when-where-how-to-buy-gpu. How “future-proofed” do you think this machine is for the next few years? Thinking about resource-heavy addons like PMDG/FSL airliners and flying them into major metro areas like JFK, LHR, HND, etc. Thanks everyone! Hope you can help out. Cheers.
  15. Wow what an amazing surprise to start the week! Going to hold off buying for at least a few weeks so I can build my next PC appropriately. The pricing model is interesting (the 787-10 is an awesome surprise!). I obviously want as many detailed airports as possible, but considering I'll probably still want payware quality for several major airports and airliners, I am curious as to how soon to the release of the sim will Third parties like Flightbeam, Flytampa, FSDT, PDMG, Quality Wings, etc. will make their products available. For me, there might not necessarily be a need to get the super premium version if the QW 787 is available on or near release day or the Flightbeam SFO is as well since I'll probably pay for those anyway. Either way, as someone who grew up on FS2004 and FSX, I'm so pumped to finally try the most advanced sim we've ever seen.
  16. I imagine proper road traffic will be added in the next Alpha or so since I'd bet it'll bring down performance a lot and they don't want to spend time optimizing for it before they do that for the core sim content like aircraft, airports, weather, air traffic, etc. In other words, it's low on the priority totem pole and all things considered it's probably relatively straight forward compared to the other things AS is building for this sim. If I had to bet I'd say road/water traffic will be adjustable like FSX, but I can't speak to the bridges question. Having optimized road traffic would be awesome though.
  17. The updates continue to blow me away, and I hope to see more short videos in the coming weeks in months as well. I'm particularly curious about what will be changed in these alpha tester screens once build #4 is out. Maybe the sloped runways and improvements to airport globally, plus a fuller 747 model, etc. Asobo clearly has a build that's decently ahead of what's out, and that makes sense. I wonder how much they'll roll out to testers next. I think the concern about the static red lights on the highway are placeholders for cars — or they'll be permanent with the addition of some actual road traffic to give the illusion of denser highway traffic, something that my ORBX scenery does decently even in FSX. Considering Asobo has seemingly thought of everything, I have a feeling they'll let you customize traffic like in previous iterations of this sim franchise. Now this is going to sound nitpicky but anyone else wondering if you can turn the cabin lights on/off in the airliners? Don't want to break any Federal laws and not dim the cabin lights for departure or keep my pax awake on longhaul flights. 😉
  18. Continues to blow me away. If I found the right one, it looks like the Sedona footage is from a much earlier build, too (1.2.12.0), which means things are only getting better. The one of the A320 and the real-time changing of weather and time is mind boggling for me (an FSX player). Man, this sim is going to be next level. I'm just so happy that it's finally, truly becoming next-gen—and with full community integration at that.
  19. Wow. Asobo continues to be incredible, both in their development of this sim but also in their transparent communication with the community. Definitely a model for other software companies. Since we're talking requests: I understand this is the Alpha and we're looking at a WIP, but I've noticed the airport ground textures, as incredibly sharp as they are, appear a bit too shiny, or something. I love how crisp the textures are, but I hope Asobo has plans to add some grit and grime to the asphalt, concrete, etc. to give big airports a more complete sense of wear and tear. Or is it just me? Either way, WOW, can't wait for this.
  20. Great. Thank you again for all your help! I'll probably just use the HD that I have listed though I could probably fit everything on an SSD. I don't think it will make such a huge difference that it's worth the extra 60-100$. Onwards with ordering!
  21. I'll keep that in mind! Thank you, much appreciated. If you guys seem to be pleased with the other stuff, I'll go ahead and order! Any other tips for commonly needed (and forgotten) cords and wires that I would have to order separately? Also, sorry if this a dumb question, but don't I need an optical drive?
  22. Ok, great! Last question (I hope). Do you have any particular z97 mobo you would recommend? I know asrock has some and asus, and others.
  23. Thank you. I've never really been able to have much detail because my current (and past) rigs haven't been good enough to allow very much cloud/weather detail. With this one I hope to be able to have complex weather with complex addons like PMDG, FSDT, etc. Assuming I get the 770, a Z97 mobo, the 4690k and everything else I mentioned in the op, do you think the power unit that I have (850w) will be enough? Thanks again.
  24. Ok, thank you very much for the tips. I'm glad you guys pitched in, I would have had no idea on my own. So it looks like it will be the 4690k and either the 760 or the 770. Just to be sure, the 770 is a smart investment for the extra 100$ over the 760? Smart meaning I would notice the difference while playing FSX.
  25. Thank you for your reply and your help. I am trying to keep the price down a little bit, and since the 770 is nearly double than the 660, do you think I would notice the difference in FSX? Also, do you think the 4790k is worth the extra $100 over the 4690k? thanks again.
