default GPS 530

Featured Replies

My GPS 530 will not pop up if clicked on the screen in the VC. My mouse cursor changes to the hand symbol but the GPS won't pop up. Should the 530 pop up or have I misread the instructions? Is there a cure for this?:( RegardsIan

first thing Do you have acceleration installed.see this post. Although it is not the same plane it is the same developer where a simmilar issue was raised.http://forum.avsim.net/topic/336833-garmin-gns430/specifically post number 9.If you have acceleration installed, then yeah there should be a cure and we can try and resolve it for you.

I don't have acceleration so I guess that's going to be a problem.I will be disappointed if Acceleration is needed for the GPS to pop up because this is a copy of the spec on the carenado product pageTechnical Requirements:Windows XP with SP3 installed, Vista or 7 (32 or 64 bits).Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX with SP1 and SP2 (or Acceleration Pack) installed.Pentium V/2GHz or similar – 2GB RAM – 512MB graphics card.660 MB available hard disk space. My computer meets or exceeds everything except Acceleration. Acceleration is not mandatory, just an option.Thank you for your replyIan :(

Can you just check about the acceleration part.. the other user also was under the impression it was just an option, till he really got into the fineprint..! As I recall that was also the way it was published with the C208, but I might be wrong. It was as I understand only in the documentation it says it IS required, but I will have to go double check. We spend almost 3 days trying to get the popup to work for him and the momemnt he istalled acceleation everything was working. Dont ask me the difference between SP2 and Acceleration, but it definately have an influance on the popups.editjust checked the C208. there they say acceleration needed.Windows XP with SP3 installed, Vista or 7 (32 or 64 bits)Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX with Acceleration Pack installed.Pentium V/4GHz or similar – 4GB RAM – 1GB graphics card365MB hard disk space available.

Yip by default only the 530 popup. If you want the 430 also to popup with the 530 like I have done mine, you have to adjust the panel.cfgxcv.jpg

I did add your excellent modded GPS gauges but the 430 does not pop up. How do I adjust the panel.cfg to make this happen? Thanks!Glenn

this will only work if you have the modded files.always good habit to make backup of panel.cfg bfore u make changesopen panel.cfg with notpad.replace window00 with the following//--------------------------------------------------------[Window00]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=520,630window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=794window_size= 0.360, 0.638window_pos= 0.015, 0.330zorder=15gauge00=Gps_530_3D_210!gps_500, 0,0,520,378gauge01=Gps_530_3D_210!GNS430_nc2, 0,380,530,260gauge02=CCTC!Toggle_GPS, 87,28,348,260

I've had a look in the 210 documentation & I don't think Acceleration is required. Ian

As said above I also checked it and do nto see anything that it is a requirement, but the same developer use the same technique for popups then I assume that same principle will apply that acceleration is INDEED neccesary as the other guy found out even though it is stated that it is optional.Maybe someone without acceleration can confirm if it is working on their machines, but i will not be surprise to find you will actually need acceleration.

BliksimpieWill your gauges work without Acceleration? If they will then maybe I should just load them & forget the Carenado gauges. It sounds like yours work better anyway.Ian

yes they work without acceleration. That does however not mean the toggle GPS will work. The other thing you can do is to just use Shift + 1 to open / close the popup..

I just loaded the latest patch but the GPS still won't pop-up. Shift+1 does pop-up the GPS but the bottom half of the panel disappears so that's not acceptable or particuarly usefull. I'm wondering what other aircraft I have that has a pop-up GPS & I might just copy the relevant panel editing. That is if I have anything with a pop-up. I might even ditch the GPS & just have com & nav radio controls like the carenado 182 models. That way I can at least set the radios without the outside view disappearing. Or try your GPS first. Carenado support have only suggested reloading the aircraft & loading the latest patch neither working.Ian

try the adjustment first I the other post that I just posted where you just move the window00 to another window number. I have had simmilar experience and it always happened with window00 and well my proposal always worked for me. There are some developers that swear by it that you should never use [windows00] for a popup..!Dont ask me the technical details why that happen..
