REX2 Doesn't like EzDok Camera with MD-11 VC?

Featured Replies

A few days ago i posted a problem i am having with my MD-11 with no response. However since this time i have been trying different things to see if i could find the trigger and i just found it.To recap, my problem is this. When the mouse pointer is hovering over a display like say the ND, the little magnifying glass with the + sign rapidly changes between magnifying glass and an arrow creating a kind of rapid flickering affect and when hovering over a nob and the pointer changes from arrow to little grabbing hand (not push), it does the same thing only between grab hand and arrow. The latter is extremely anoying because it makes it very difficult to set whatever the nob sets. After playing for a long time with this i found that if i run FSX alone without REX2 running, problem solved. As soon as i run REX2, the problem appears. My big problem is, there is no way i want to ditch my REX2 or EzDok camera. They are two great addons imo.I have even tried different settings in both REX2 and FSX, but no luck. MD-11 is the only a/c that i have any graphics problems using these two add ons and i am certainly not giving up my MD-11. I am also going to go over to the REX2 forum and give them a try but if anybody has any suggestions or better yet, knows of a solution here, i would be really greatful.

Hi Wanabflyer,I too run REX2 and am looking at purchasing the EzDok camera. Therefore as I currently don't have both I have not experienced this problem. If you are running in DX10 Preview mode try disabling it and run in DX9 mode. Sorry I can't offer any further help.

Core i7 @ 3.6Ghz

HD5970 Black Edition

12Gb DDR3 1500

FSX Hybrid Drive 500Gb

If i mouse over the gauges, my cursor switches to the magnifying glass. If i move the mouse over a gauge, it flickers between that and an arrow - i dont see the grab hand (the cursor when the mouse is over the alt dial for example).Definately sound like something is acting up - are you seeing this on any other PMDG planes? Tried fixing the registry using the Flight1 tool? Also, try reinstalling the MD11 after running the Flight1 tool. Personally, my aircraft are the last things i install when building FSX, and i have never seen the problem you mention.(btw, spell 'nob' with a k at the start - in the UK, 'nob' means something entirely different! :-) )

Thanks guys for your replies. What i have found is that if i am not running REX2, which i don't need to do if using only their textures, the problem disappear's. As i don't use the weather engine in REX2, i'm ok for now. Not running DX10 Preview but have not tried running Flight 1 tool but will try and i am still considering a MD-11 reinstall but trying to avoid because i have all my views set up etc with EzDok (never quite the same if you save camera config files) .When i did my recent upgrade build of my FSX rig, i installed FSX first + sp1,2 and then addons. MD-11 was last as i only just purchased a couple of weeks ago. My overclocking was done only after FSX + addons set up and stable and i dropped my overclock to install my MD-11.Sorry for my bad spelling Aburley. Should no, oops i meen know better as i came here from the good old UK many years ago so after reading your comment in brackets i cirtainly felt like one Big%20Grin.gif

No worries about the spelling - i just saw the word nob and laughed to myself childishly! You are probably better off exporting the Ezca cameras - in FSX, press shift+D to open up the Ezca window. The do File -> Save Camera Set. Do you stuff reinstalling the MD11, then load the camera set. Should be good from there.

Hey Rick I had the same problem over a year ago, to tell you the truth it just went away, I use REX 2 and EZDOK right now with the MD11 and their is no problem, one thing you might try is changing your windows theme, I just use the Windows Classic theme, when you do this you should check in the control panel under mouse click the pointers tab and make sure there is a check iin the box that says "Allow themes to change mouse pointers, this does not look the prettiest but it might be the solution, also is your rex up to its current version? Im just not sure what cured it for me, but I remember it being very frustrating.

Hi Ian. Yup, i have the latest build of REX2. Also have Overdrive installed but i haven't tried the windows theme change and i will check my mouse settings. I will be flying as usual tonight so i will give your suggestions a try. Just don't want to reinstall stuff if i can get away with it because i don't know about you but i find it very time consuming to set up EzDok. Once you get it where you want it, its the slickest little addon i've ever come across. I just find that even if you save your camera set and then use it later on a reinstall, it never is 'quite' how i set it up and have to re tweak. Thanks and Regards,

Same here, Don't particularly like the security paranoia but at least it's faster than XP. Will post the results of your suggestions after flying tonight.Regards,

Ian.Tried Windows classic theme and checked allow themes to change mouse pointers, but niether or both cured the problem. Oh well, i guess i'll nail it sometime. at least i don't need REX2 running to enjoy the textures. Regards,

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm having this exact same problem and I'm running the exact same addons. The only pointer that doesn't have the "flickering effect" is the push symbol, all other symbols such as the display magnifying glass and turning knob hands create this annoying problem. Did you ever come up with a solution besides not using REX2? Or is it something you've just learnt to live with?

Hi Luke. No i didn't. As i don't use the weather on REX2, any time i want to change my textures, i set them up in REX2, download into FSX and then close REX2. Problem solved (if you don't use REX2 weather engine).Having said all that, i would still like to find a solution, so if you find out before me, please post.Regards,
