New FAA Instrument Procedures Handbook Aug 2011

Featured Replies

The release date is 8/1/11 for this FAA handbook which includes large airport operations, chart reading, etc., as well as basics. Amazon is offering $6 off for a net of about $14 + S&H. I found it a very comprehensive guide and have the earlier version in my library. It is free to read on the FAA site but it is not very handy to follow all of the various links.Instrument Procedures Handbook (FAA-H-8261-1A) (Revised Edition) Federal Aviation Administrationhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1616082712/ref=pe_143810_20500790_snp_dpThe list of online related manuals is here:http://www.faa.gov/library/manuals/aviation/Just an FYI for a manual I've recommended on a few forums. For FMC users it is especially relevant IMHO. There have been a few queries about chart interpretation and airport procedures in this forum.

Nice catch! I ordered a copy from Amazon this morning for my library. I honestly had no idea the revision existed.

It's also available as an e-book. I have it on my iPad using the kindle app.

I have no idea why the FAA site has not updated unless they are waiting for the effective date of releasee. One reason for considering the update is the slow but progressing adaptation some ICAO procedures that the FAA did not conform to.For European pilots try amazon.co.uk:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Instrument-Procedures-Handbook-FAA-H-8261-1a-Administration/dp/1616082712/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311045728&sr=1-5
