July 20, 201114 yr I purchased a new computer about a year ago and, starting at that point, every time I want to fly I have to restart the comp because it has lost it's contact with the flight sim somehow. I have ch pedals and yoke. I never had this problem until I bought this comp. After I restart I can fly as long as I want and it won't lose it again until I shut the comp down. Next time it is the same over again. I have been putting up with it but if someone could tell me why it does it so I could fix it I would appreciate it. This is the same on fs9 or 10. Thanks Don

July 20, 201114 yr Adding to what was said two posts up about the power management options in Windows 7 next time the devices do not work press the Start button and type "View Devices" and then click on the option from the list called "view devices and printers". In the window that then opens right click on the joystick device icon that you are having issues with and select "troubleshoot" and follow the instructions that follow. The troubleshooter should then detect that there is a problem with the device and give you an option to reset the device after resuming from standby. Hopefully now the issue should be resolved, but do follow the instructions that pschlute posted first. You may also need to go into the device manager and switch off the power management settings for devices called "USB Root Hub" just double click on the entries (there may be more than one) then select the power management tab then remove the check box from the box labelled "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". You can get to the device manager by typing its name (device manager) in the same Start button search box. Cheers, Andy.

I am using 3 ( I think) of them for my flight sim but how can I tell which ones?
July 25, 201114 yr Just do them all, the amount of power you save is minimal anyway when compared to the rest of the components in your PC. If you are only using 3 USB ports turning the rest off will not do any harm anyway. All you are doing is stopping Windows from turning the power off to those ports when the system is idle for a certain amount of time. Cheers, Andy.
