Mesh for Scotland

Featured Replies

HelloI'm considering getting the scotflight scenery so I can have fun flying in this nice part of the UK. Currently I have UK2000 airfields, use Ultimate Terrain and the mesh that came with the JustFlight/VisualFlight VFR photo scenery (which I no longer use 'cause of 'blurries'). As this mesh doesn't extend to Scotland what options do I have. I was considering the FSGenesis 76.4M for UK but note it is discontiued but can be obtained by getting the European bundle (at a good price). FSGenesis now do the NEXTmap 19M for UK but not sure if my machine would handle it? In fact I'm not sure what the resolution of terrain mesh I'm using at the minute is. What else is availabe, FSGlobal? Would have to be 2008 as the latest is a bit pricey for me!Thanks in anticipation.

Hi.I use FS Global 2008 & don't have much of a problem with it, certainly not enough to make me buy a replacement. A lot of default aerodromes have default elevation regardless of what mesh is used which can put them on plateaux or in troughs. Correcting your favourites is not dificult with FS Tools flatten utility and ADE9x, both freeware and easy to use. Genesis or Global 2010 probably won't have so many uncorrected airports. Others will correct or confirm this.I'm pretty sure that mesh doesn't place much of a strain on a PC so you're unlikely to have a problem with even the highest resolution available. Others will confirm or correct this too. With regard to Scotflight and UT Europe, there will be some changes you'll need to make to UT, mostly disabling UT coastlines and LWM. See the following thread from the Scotflight forum. The instruction therein is in 3 parts: quick guide, full instructions, and background information.Kind regards,D http://www.scotfligh...166.msg2065#new

Thanks for the replies. That procedure for adjusting UT coastlines looks daunting but I may give it a go! Can't understand why everyone can't work to the same data!As for the freeware mesh, there's nothing to loose so I may give that a try initially and see what happens.BTW, having just done a flight with photoscenery enabled for the first time in ages I do miss it. Did anyone ever produce such scenery for Scotland?

Well I tried the Andy Weir UKN mesh but it didn't look to good (I could have installed the BGL file wrong as I had problems adding it to the scenery library). In the end I decided to get the FSG 19m mesh, just installed it but yet to see the results. I also installed Scotflight (am I right in thinking this doesn't appear as a seprate entry on the scenery library?). I've yet to do the adjustements. Slowly getting FS9 how I want it and so the computer can cope.

HiI am using all of FSG's mesh for FS9 and have not noticed any difference with my PC's performance wise at all, but difference it makes in what I see when flying is very good indeed...............John

I installed Genesis Next Map UK on Sunday, as it was on offer at under £7, works great with Scotflight, no frame rate drop etc.
