Moving the eye viewpoint outside the aircraft

Featured Replies

I am still using FS2002. I have only recently read that one can move the pilot's eye viewpoint outside the boundaries of his own cockpit, and move it both up/down and left/right.Can someone please guide me as to how this can be done?Does it require one to be in Virtual Cockpit View Mode? What are the keystrokes to use?Any assistance will be appreciated,Stamatis

You need to be in virtual cockpit mode.. try using the CTRL-enter and CTL-Backspace key combinations. Using Shift instead of CTRL, will moveyou up/down.

Bert,I do not want to pan left/right or up/down.I want to actually move the pilot's eyes left/right or up/down.Kind off virtually transporting the pilot himself.Stamatis

Stamatis,You'll need to add something like this under the {VIEWS} section in the panel.cfg -VIEW_REAR_LEFT_ZOOM=1.70 // REAR LEFT COCKPIT VIEWVIEW_REAR_LEFT_DIR=5.0, 0.0, 208 VIEW_REAR_LEFT_EYE=2.0, 0.0, 10.0 You'll obviously have to play with the figures for the particular aircraft you use and for your own tastes. Notice the section above is for the rear left view only. You can of course change any view.Rich.Edited to add curly brackets (should be square in the cfg of course).

Yes, the third line VIEW_REAR_LEFT_EYE= will indeed set the eye position but what I meant is doing it via the keyboard, not fixing it through the Panels.cfg file.I have come across messages where peole claimed they can shift the eyepoint left right up/down via keystrokes. As an example, they can move the eypoint to somewhere outside the aircraft and look at the aircraft from the outside while still in Virtual Cockpit mode!I am not referring to the Ctrl+Enter and Ctrl+Backspace commands which simply pivot the eyesight up/down.Stamatis

Try these again or some combo thereof - ctrl enter or bsp pivot view as you say, however, shift enter or pivot MOVE the eyepoint up and down, ctrl+shft enter or bsp should MOVE the eyepoint laterally forward and back. However, active camera is much more functional, but not free.sg

i set my arrow keys to handle the l/r/f/b movements and I use the home/end keys for up/down.go into FS and alt/settings add the keystrokes to the "move eyepoint" sections. or use the default 3 finger setup.joe

I use Active Camera for FS2002, an excellent addon. But you can't raise the eyeview. You can move forward/back/left/right while in an External View, you can even Crouch, but you cannot use an imaginary elevator to lift yourself up.The default FS allows you that, and with the help of our friends in this thread I have managed to assign a set of keystrokes to do this.Wish Active Camera added this feature. In addition to what it already is, it would become the best and handiest tool for observing AI Traffic at an airport :-)Stamatis

Thank you all for contributing! With your help I have been able to assign a set of keystrokes to achieve what I was looking for.Stamatis

Dear Stamatis, with the FS2002 version (as well as the 2004) you can raise the eye view by pressing CTRL+HOME (going up) or CTRL+END (going down). The movement is unlimited in height.I will reply to your e-mail ASAP (regarding the default spot plane view).Best regards,

Hello Serge,Yes, I discovered this in the meantime :-)Nice!Congratulations for your addon,Stamatis

Hi,I must be doing something wrong.I have tested with a registred version of FSUIPC (FS 2004). Installation goes OK, but I don't see any difference whatever I do.

With kind regards,
