December 22, 200322 yr Get the airshow.zip here. It's a blast in FS2004. It has all of the old vintage planes conducting touch and goes at Oshkosh and three other fields. It is simple to install. Just four AFCAD's and one bgl file. I sat there in the Mobile Control Tower, which is also available here, and watched and listened to the planes takeoff and land. There are hundreds of planes parked waiting to taxi and takeoff. Thanks John. He says he is working on AI planes from the carrier too. Regards to all, Bob.
December 22, 200322 yr John did not give any e-mail address in the zip file. I found that when I used TTools to add some more traffic that AC#5 in the aircraft.txt file, after decompiling, had a missing de before the de Havilland Black Magic aircraft name. All you have to do is open the aircraft.txt file and add the de save it and compile again. Thanks John for a GREAT airshow. Best regards, Bob.
December 22, 200322 yr If I install this , can I fly amongst all this traffic? Also, what traffic actually shows -- do I have to have all the traffic a/c somewhere resident on my Hdd - or are they all default a/c?Thanks Barry
December 22, 200322 yr Hi. Yes they are all default planes (Trimotor, Vickers, de Havilland, Jenny, etc.). You can fly along with them although I have not tried it yet. I am too facinated just to watch them. It's really neat. Very simple installation too. Regards, Bob.
December 23, 200322 yr Yes -- this is a LOT of fun . And it has taught me something and that is that AI seems to have no effect at all on my framerates. I have never seen so much AI traffic and yet the FPS were good. It seems that my FPS are more affected by large buildings at airports -- not even the Autogen seems to have much effect on my system -- but those big buildings!!!But back to the airshow -- I tried to fly amongst all this traffic and found that the aircraft qued up (of which I was one) awaiting takeoff instructions never seemed to actually get into the sky because the ATC kept on telling the aircraft that were approaching on final to go-around. Hence -- although there is a lot of traffic movement on the ground and in the air-- nobody seems to be actually taking off and landing. I solved this problem by leaving the que and took off from the taxiway!! :) But this would be a lot of fun if I could work out this problem.Any advice much appreciated. Thanks Barry
December 23, 200322 yr Yes, a pity that John did not include his E-Mail. Well, just wanted to say a big thank you to you!AC5 Alfredo Croci Pulverstrasse 8 P.O.Box 71 3048 Worblaufen Switzerland Tel. +4131 9219231 [email protected]
December 23, 200322 yr Author Hi Barry,"I solved this problem by leaving the que and took off from the taxiway!! :)"....yes, I was faced with this as well. I was positioned at the end of the rwy and nothing much was happening after the queue of traffic formed. I wanted to watch from the ground so resolved the problem by briefly going into slew and backing off the rwy. Then the action started :) I need to go back and check what happens later as I only spent 5 mins watching following installation. I saw two a/c takeoff.I have my traffic density set at 5% (UT) and CTRL+W revealed quite a lot of other traffic in the vicinity, so may need to back off the percentage a tad, we'll see. Great to see the vintage collection in action together. Never ceases to amaze me what you chaps can do with this sim :-jumpyMikeEdit: One other thing - someone mentioned the existence of a 'mobile control tower' Can a link be provided to the file, please? Tried a search of the library, but no joy. Does this file relieve the tedium of having to continually reposition yourself on the ground and/or at various elevations?
December 27, 200322 yr Hi. It is available at flightsim.com. The file names are rcmctw87.zip, rcmctw88.zip, and rcmctw89.zip. You will have to delete the aimap gauge or FS2004 will crash. It has five levels and you can slew the tiwer view. You can listen to two frequencies at a time. Regards, Bob.
December 27, 200322 yr Author Thanks Bob, appreciate the feedback :)Hope you are having a great ChristmasMike :-wave
