August 4, 201114 yr Last week my bank (always looking out for my well being they are) cancelled my debit/VISA card without telling me.Four days, two phone calls, and five phone reps later my new debit card was ordered with an ETA of up to two weeks. I already transferred money from my bank to my Paypal account balance ahead of time, but will I still be able to complete the transaction even though Paypal *technically* doesn't have a credit card on file anymore (thanks bank!) as a backup? I knew I should have demanded a rush delivery on the new debit card... AJ Pongress
August 4, 201114 yr I am pretty sure you can as long as your paypal has either some money in it or is directly connected with your bank account.

It has a balance and it's directly linked to my account, but some online vendors still want a credit card linked as a backup funds source.Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Just want to make 500% sure I can buy the thing tomorrow. It's funny though...vendors require a credit card on file as a backup even if it's your debit card that's linked to the same account. Lol.I guess Visa/Mastercard doesn't make the distinction between debit/check card and credit card a.k.a plastic line of credit. AJ Pongress

I've bought tons of things with Paypal using just my one checking account and the debit card linked to that account... so no backup at all. And I've never had any issues. August 4, 201114 yr OK, since you already have money in your paypal account, you shouldn't have any problem as long as the balance in your Paypal account is equal or higher than the product your are puchasing. If you wouldn't have a balance in Paypal then it would be impossible to purchase anything until your credit card is approve and that will take a few days. Raul San Juan, P.R..
