I do not know if it's normal, but when I am flying (I use addon scenery like vfr germany or austria prof x) although I tunes my fsx.cfg, texture quality is very poor in cockpit view. directly below the aircraft the textures seem to be loaded higher but looking the front view during a descend it looks ugly and not sharp. is this standard? I already tuned fsc.cfg and have high res. scenery installed. whats your experience? I even have troubles with a 2m mesh, that won't load. THe result here is a low resolution texture (although GEX and UTX is installed) and instead of 2m terrain I see a 200m terrain. how can I use photorealistic textures in FSX? What configurations should I use? WHat about high resolution terrain and textures which is loaded in a big radius, so that you can see the detailed scenery 2km and not only 100meters and then the resolution reduces? See the attached picture (approach LOWW with Austria Prof. X) --> You see low resolution textures in front of the view over the virtual cockpit.at left and right view the quality is better. It seems that the quality in front of you (also the direction you fly) is very poor. Why that? First of all I want to say welcome to AVSIM !!!! You will find a wealth of knowledge on here so the search function will become your second friend. I think what you are seeing is a dose of what we all call the blurries. It will happen when your system is unable to keep up with what is happening in the Sim. Here is a link to probably the best set up info available http://www.simforums.com/forums/topic29041.html This will tell you everything you need to know to get you pointed in the right direction. Go thru that guide to the letter and I bet you will see improvements. My advise also would be also to DO NOT add any other tweeks until after you are tuned properly. Jim

Can you try moving the tweak fsx.cfg (do not delete) from the folder and let FSX rebuild a new fsx.cfg so all defaults get loaded and then check if the texture is coming on right.

Have you read the link that Bert posted ? I am going through your fsx.cfg may take time as it's big. But please do read the link Bert has posted above. Keep ATI AA On and off in FSX , under CCC MIPMAP make it high quality. and image to high quality, anistrophoc 16x. and then check once again in fsx.

Michi, Your setup is good, what version of CCC are you using ? Could you try uninstalling the Acceleration and install SP2 or instead just uninstall it and keep it on SP1 and try. I have CCC 11.7 (HD 5450 1GB HTPC card ) no issues with my new Athlon X3 445. You may comment out the Job Scheduler section , Is you i5 a Quad or a dual ? If it's a Dual then comment the Job Scheduler section and if it's a Quad then keep Affinity mask = 5. Please try it. Lower your Texture_MAX_LOAD to 1024. I am making you try out things but do not worry it will not affect anything and you can always put the settings back.

If you want FSX to load the textures earlier, you are better off limiting FPS within FSX at 30 than torun with unlimited FPS.. Also, LOD_radius=8 may be more than your system can handle, try 5.5 (or 6.5) instead.
