December 26, 200322 yr If you don't own a force feedback joystick, or always thought it was a waste of money, you're going to want to buy one, and you'll certainly change your mind about the "realism" and fun associated with such a stick ( I recommend the Microsoft FF2). After months of testing the upcoming new program, FS FORCE, by Russell Dirks, I finally totally enjoy my stick, and it is like "night and day" when being compared to the software provided by Microsoft. Russell has reinvented the feel for this stick and all the others that employ force. Every type of plane feels different (from lights to helicopters to heavies), and total customization is allowed. You won't believe the "touchdowns" and the "braking" which were totally absent from the original programs that came with these sticks. I will probably say that NO OTHER ADDON program I've ever had gives me a fraction of the enjoyment I get from FS FORCE. This is NOT an advertisement..it is simply the truth about how I feel. I'm sure others will voice the same feelings after trying it. Get Ready....it's coming soon. Stan
December 26, 200322 yr Author Sounds interesting, I have been waiting for something more in regards to *feeling*. What I really want to feel other than TD and braking etc is rough weather, resistance and banking, it you can get this down it would be worth a shot indeed.[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. December 26, 200322 yr Sounds great- any hit to general smoothness or FPS from this software?Best,Joel
December 26, 200322 yr As another ff2 joystick owner I never used the FF in fs2002/2004.My reasons were no resistance ,10kts or 500 kts the resistance was the same ...zero.. this made flying the aircraft very difficult. With Fsforce the resistance of the stick increases with airspeed. You also get bump effects at takeoff and landing, this makes a huge difference to the feeling of speed , especially in the larger jets.Landings are transformed, a good landing is rewarded with a subtle TD effect, and you will not need to look at the VS needle to tell a heavy landing.. I promise!! :)Best thing to do is download it and try it for free when it becomes available http://www.dirks-software.ca/fs-force/index.htm.Try a few touch and go's around your favorite airport, the difference is really amazing, its very difficult to convey in words the difference, you really have to try it.All the bestJohn
December 26, 200322 yr I run an MSFFB2 with FFB and get all the effects with just the XP software. I get ground bumps, stick tightens as speed increases, etc. FFB is defined in the airfile. Change it if it doesn't suit you. Don't see any need to add any third party stuff.
December 26, 200322 yr I have the Microsoft Force feedback joystick and use it every flight ecept to actually fly the plane. See I also have a CH Yoke and what I do is I have velcroed a piece of small foam on the base part of the joystick which can spin around the base. What this does is allow me to spin it around where the foam blocks the IR beam and activates the forces. Then When I'm taxing or landing/takeoff I get a rattle sound from the stick while using the yoke as my flight control. This adds a lot of realism (anyone whos taxied an a/c knows how much the cockpit rattles making a rattle sound will know)and gives me the feeling of when I leave or land on ground and how fast I'm taxing while on the ground. I've always felt there should be a jolt on touch down and hope this new program does that. Otherwise I am happy with it.NP
December 26, 200322 yr I hear all of you...and you doubt that it'll be that much different. But You'll see...it's great. It's soooo different that it's addictive. In between various versions of the Beta that Russell released to us, I had to go back to Microsoft's version. It was horrible, and I stopped flying until Russell released the new Beta. There were probably 4 or 5 Betas that all refined the program. What we have left is incredible, and smooth, and realistic. AND it has absolutely NO effect on frames. Nuff said...you'll just have to try it....there will be a trial period before you buy according to Russell. So......... You'll see! Stan
December 26, 200322 yr >AND it has absolutely NO effect on frames. That's strange. That's not what's suggested here:http://www.dirks-software.ca/fs-force/foru...wtopic.php?t=41Cheers,Paulhttp://www.strontiumdog.plus.com/cin.gifwww.bavirtual.co.uk/cin.htm - please give generously!!Officially licenced by British Airways plc for use of name and logo[p]AMD XP2800+ Barton, Gigabyte GA-7NNXP nForce2, 1Gig Crucial PC3200 DDR 400MHz, Gainward 128 MB GF4-4200, SB Audigy, 3 x WD Caviar SE[/p]
December 27, 200322 yr That thread does show some people reporting a serious framerate hit- I'd be interested in trying it, but not with a performance hit like that.
December 27, 200322 yr Hey Stan, does it add anything to helicopter flights??Regards, MichaelKDFWhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpgCalVirAir International VAwww.calvirair.comCougar Mountain Helicopters & Aviationwww.cgrmtnhelos.com Best, Michael KDFW

December 27, 200322 yr BigshotThere is NO WAY that you could achieve what FSForce does by altering airfiles just try it?.The Bump effects I talked about have no resemblence to the FS2004 FF effects, Try pulling back on the stick at 250kts in the 737 try the same with Fsforce.PaulIf you check the forum the FPS problem has been resolved.I am running Fsforce and the FPS hit is less than 3% if that.NathanThis does not just rattle trust me.Since FS2000 I have been waiting for 2 things in MSfsim good FF, and a sound engine to do justice to the realistic AC sounds produced by my fellow addicts.Scratch the first one of my list.In the end the software is try before you buy, so you decide. All the best John
December 27, 200322 yr This is all a mute point until some company that wants to make BIG $ is intelligent and has the foresite to release a Force Feedback Yoke and Pedals, and resistance is programmed into each A/Cs flight model. Then you really have something, otherwise, again it is a mute point and is still totally "GAMER".Barry
December 27, 200322 yr I have a Force Feedback Joystick , but I would think a froce FeedbackFlight Yoke would be the best! is the CH Flight Yoke a froce feedbackor not??
