ActiveSky Evolution Dissconnect with NGX

Featured Replies

Ever since I installed the PMDG NGX, activesky evolution works fine for like 15-20 mins but then the weather just goes clear skies and unlimited visibility. I have only experienced this since I installed the NGX. Anyone else having the same problem? The only solution I have so far is to restart active sky. Any Ideas? Ayush Rustagi

Please try it with other addon aircraft. I'm sure Jim will answer this, but most likely it's something between ASE and FSX not NGX, and timing is coincidental. EDIT: Please remember to sign your posts with full real name, it's forum rule, otherwise moderators will delete your posts/threads.

Hi, Make sure you start ASE then FSX. If you close one down, close the other before your next session and then re-start both in the proper order. After this I would suggest that this is a SimConnect issue or your system is being overloaded.

Just tried with default cessna aircraft. Still, ASE disconnected with FSX, however it shows as if it is still connected. I also started ASE and FSX in the proper way, i.e. ASE first then FSX. Again to recap the wx portrayed is correct for about 15 mins then returns to CAVOK unlimited visibility

Hi, You have a bad SimConnect installation. The best way to tackle this is by using the 3 FSX SDKs and run the SimConnect.msi file from each. SDK 1 is on your FSX DVD #1, 1A and 2 can be downloaded from MS.

Thanks Jim..Looks like I also have a busy day ahead of me re-installing sim connect..

Are you experiencing the same problems as me?

I may be. The jury is still out.. i WS having problems with my graphics drivers, which i had to roll back, and thats taken care of, but during a flight, there will be very long periods of no weather at all, interspersed with periods of weather.. I've only experienced the weather problem with ASE and FSX Jepson weather, and i suspect some subroutine of sim connect is limping ( for lack of a better term ): disconnecting,k and reconnecting at intervals, like a dieing neon light.. Either way, I trust the folks at Hi Fi to know what they're talking about, and am happily amazed at seeing them here, helping us out as well.. Thats frikkin awesome of them.. :) :) ..

All, Just keep in mind all you are doing is using the SDKs to re-install SimConnect. Don't uninstall anything, like from FSX because SimConnect files do not reside in FSX, but in your Windows folder.

Unable to find SDK 1A and & 2 online. Please provide link. Thanks

Sorry if I go off topic, but, speaking of Simconnect, what happens if I use both ASE + Radar Contact on a second computer, networked with the FSX one, through WideFS? (Radar Contact needs WideFS). Will WideFS and Simconnect work together? Will that be an overload for FSX? In that case, is it possible to disable Simconnect and use only WideFS?Thank you.
